Worst is that I've seen nurses working as baggers/cashiers/fastfood crews and even drivers.
Naa juy mga RN bro nga nanimpalad sa gawas pero di gihapon ka-practice sa ila profession, nangapply maski unsa na lang. Malas in a way na sayang ang gi-skwelahan, pero at least wala nagpabadlong nga mag-istambay.

Naa to 1 time nga nangita among company og junior designer nako, sagunson jud to 3 ka licensed nurses pero kabalo sad mu-design nga na-interview nako, ok man sa akoa.

Let me repeat it ha....since the opportunities to go abroad is very very scarce....you my dear RN's are forced to work locally just to earn a living....So it's already a given nga KUWANGAN SAD ANG HOSPITALS NA INYONG KASUDLAN kay nanaghan naman mo diri nga na tambay sa pinas..

So going back...I just want to point out, that I do not accept the reason nga tungod kuwang ta ug facilities....daghan RNs walay trabaho...

    Bottomline ang primary reasons...

    daghan graduates = higher competition....
daghan RN's = limited opportunities of going abroad (in terms of demand sa foreign countries)

    Hope that makes it clear....

Oh yes bro, thanks for sharing your insights. I guess you're referring to foreign nurses who underwent immigration to such countries like Canada/Australia/UK/NZ/USA as one option to go abroad. Many believed living in those countries considered as stepping stones but it entails a lot of money.

Upon their arrival, they cannot practice as a nurse but to struggle for any survival jobs in order to figure their settlement funds. Some applied as janitors, assistants, secretaries, baggers, trash collectors, maids and mostly caregivers. They will encounter much ordeal for better life.

When they've collected enough funds, that's the time to practice their own profession. Some applied for student loans. Their credentials such as education must be assessed and registered on a nursing regulatory body like our country's BON. They have to meet their requirements before licensure. All foreign nurses will go back to study for continuing education program. It serves as a refresher course/training depending on the years of experience, hereby ensuring competence to render quality service. After the said program, they must pass the required exam. BTW, it's a long journey before becoming a successful RN abroad.

Health care facilities such as clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, specialized health centers e.g. trauma, birthing, psychia, pedia, ortho, cancer, etc. They're designed to offer quality health services to those who need medical attention.

if only there is a MEPZ type institution for hospitals then dli gyud mglisod ug trabaho ang mga nurses.
Hmm, I get your point bro. IT and Nursing have both different fields. Actually, these two courses were integrated on the nursing curriculum. Subjects include software packages, nursing informatics and health technology. I think there's no MEPZA/IT Park type institution for hospitals when it comes to health care delivery system. Unless the IT company needs industrial/company nurses but with only limited slots. We only have huge tertiary hospitals with different special areas/units. All of these units are inadequate to occupy more patients/nurses.

However, IT has a significant impact on the nursing career for instance health organizations can utilize for work efficiency, accessible to research, reducing errors and improving patient's data processes. As it progresses, they can offer new job opportunities for nurses specifically unemployed. It's a new trend that new nurses/nursing graduates entered BPO industry turning themselves into call center agents/data encoders/analysts/sales associates and health care insurance representatives.
Thinking these perspectives as career change.

US Hospital now prefers US graduate nurses if you have BSN certificate only, even if NCLEX certified. they prefer also a year or 2 US hospital experience.

To be competitive foreign graduate has to be MASTERS degree, even more NP or nurse practitioner. Doctorate in Nursing Practitioner is about to be offered also, These kind of degree is good for spouse who becomes an immigrant or citizen by virtue of marriage. On evaluation and observation, Asians are in majority ( mostly Filipinos ) for these kind of education.Other nationalities and mainstream US citizen didn't and has not opted for this continuing education. Such course takes 3yrs to finish but some US University are fast tracking NP course to meet up the demands as a substitute for MDs especially in the US depress areas. The fast track which started mid 2010 and to end mid next year, entails a ONE YEAR COURSE to some universities, and A 2 AND A HALF years to some universities.

it is of advantage to some if not many Filipinos Physician who migrated becoming a nurse in USA. NP is almost on the same level of a US Medical Practitioner.

NP is now the continuing education, in anticipation of a greater need of such field since the MDs are on a short list much more in the years to come when a new US healthcare program is implemented the Health for all.

we hope that there would be a course in the philippines for a Nurse Practitioner in the future.
