Arroyo slams corruption index, but Indonesia happy

President Arroyo dismissed a survey Tuesday that named the Philippines as Asia's most corrupt economy, saying the perceptions were outdated.

The index, based on the views of nearly 1,500 expatriate businessmen, was based on "old data" that was no longer accurate, she said.

"Our credit ratings are fine," she told Business News Asia magazine. "The political analysis, they work on old data.

"They don't work on up-to-date data."

The survey was compiled by the Hong Kong-based Political and Economic Risk Consultancy (PERC) and showed the Philippines bottom of a list of 13 nations and territories in terms of the executives' perception of corruption.

they will report anytime they encounter red tape or corruption...

remember these expats are highly educated people working with mulitnational companies....

and GMA says its not TRUE....

Well it only means there is a need to do more to fight corruption...

i'm sure this will be printed in all foreign newspapers from indonesia to japan...

Philippines is once again the place to be avoided....

The Philippines got a score of 9.40 under a grading system which has zero as the best possible score and 10 as the worst. The Philippines scored 7.80 last year.

10 is not that far....
