Maybe the documentary is biased but I was a student in law school when the case was happening so I followed it closely.

It is true that the judge did not allow ANY of the witnesses to testify that Larranaga was in Manila the night of the abduction and the morning after.

It is true that when the Defense lawyers were questioning the judge why they were not allowed to present witnesses in violation of the defendants' constitutional Rights, they were put in jail by the judge for contempt. They were subsequently ordered by the judge to be replaced with lawyers from the Public Attorney's Office who were given only a couple of days to prepare and present the defense.

It is true that Mr. Chiong is a supposed to testify against a well-known local drug lord a week before the abduction. After the abduction he never did. This was in the news even before the abduction.

It was even well know in local power brokering circles, even before the abduction, that if you wanted something from Malacanang you could "go thru" Mrs. Chiong (because her sister was the appointment secretary of Erap).

Lastly this was told to me by someone who saw the movie. Paco Larranage, now in Spain under the treaty, can actually be set free by a pardon by the Spanish Government BUT he has to admit his guilt. One cannot be pardoned if you entered a Not Guilty plea.

Apparently he does not want to change his plea, because that would be admitting to something he did not do.

So he is still in jail in Spain, only with the possibility of parole in a couple of years.

I suggest before people judge the Larranaga's for trying to influence everyone they can through the movie, that you try to understand the reason why.

There were fish larger than Paco and company at work during this case. I normally dismiss conspiracy theories, but this one I happen to know to be true. Watch the docu sah before falling to your biases.

man, a lot of istoryans are quick to judge the Larranaga's even with little knowledge of what really happened. what a shame.. tsk tsk
