I'm curious how they'd go about enforcing this law. The Philippines will have to be a police state, watching your every move in cyberspace. That's scary. That typifies the Orwellian Big Brother of "1984". Trust me, if you give the Philippine government this much power, I can guarantee you it will be abused to the fullest.

Exactly... Daghan kaayo og loopholes for abuse labi na sa mga people in power and with influence... This will bring chaos, kiha didto, kiha diri... But what's really worse about this is the authorities can pursue you and get computer data without court order... Isn't that Martial Law already?

Damn these people who approved it... How come walay debate? How come walay objections? I'm pretty sure they don't know or don't care about it and are just looking at the bright side of things not considering the back end abuses that can be exploited out of this very loose law...

Online piracy is a cyber crime... Most "piracy" are sourced from the internet... You know what i mean...

First of all, we shouldn't b*tch around about privacy since we chose to bring our lives to the cyber world. If we valued privacy that much we would have kept ice-age communication.

But I'm not amused by this stunt by the PH government. Have they not anything better to do? They can't even keep the DOH website invulnerable to hackers, now they're talking about cyber law enforcement. Who are they protecting by the essence of this law? Filipino movie makers?

Though I am glad that PH has done one step forward for cyber law enforcement, it scares me how they will implement this as the law contains unconstitutional provisions. Section 19 of RA 10175 for example. DOJ has the power to restrict or block websites when they found out that the site owners violated the law. Say, if I post a torrent link here, this forum maybe held liable for this case.

The internet was supposed to be The Great Equalizer. Access to a wide range of information and media has become more egalitarian. Now, you put a law like Cyber-crime Law, and you'll end up with the rich enjoying the advantages of the information age while the poor will be left with their error-filled DepED-approved textbooks and IQ-decreasing tabloids.

Another thing is that we should de-criminalize libel. Come on. When we were kids, nobody died because we were called names or people had bad gossips about you. You may have some hurt feelings, but that goes away after a few days and then you grow a thicker skin and you become creative in your own way of dishing out ridicule. Angay ra mana sa mga taga-showbiz ug politics...these people like to think that the world revolves around them. Grow up and grow a thicker skin! We have more serious problems to take care of, instead of wallowing over some bad things some people say. Geeezzz!!!

True enough. Considering Filipinos were being tagged as the most gullible people in the world. One may set-up a hate page in fb or posting a false accusation via twitter and eventually others may share, like, re-post or re-tweet that libelous statement which makes them apprentices of a criminal offense.

if you want to learn online and want to download your learning resources on those torrent sites dili na pwede? How will you continue to do so? Especially when it comes to documentary shared things for learning purposes. Internet should be free and I hope this would be justified well and not end up in paSOTTO style.

Another waste of money law... come on Mr. President these cybercrime laws doesnt make you look like a Wizard..
Also if they have the man power to track down our ISP.. then please track down first the ones that are doing heinous crimes..

It's frightening that trusted public figures signed off on this law without comprehending it... or even reading it properly beforehand. What is the point of passing poorly conceived bills and what consideration has been given to the general public with regards to privacy and freedom of expression?

unsaon nlng ang 9gag, Torrent, ang Seeders ug ang Leechers? ang mangdownloaday ug salida ug porn? ang magyawyaw sa FB with tanan balikas? lol daghan maamong ani.... nakalingkawas gne tas SOPA ug PIPA sa laing nasud (which made some of our favorite sharing sites blocked or closed) nya dili nadae ta patakag yaw2 ani sa social media sites? which is defeating the purpose of it being "a social media" .
