Saddam did have chemical weapons, he used them against the Kurdish minority remember. Whether he still had WMDs after the allies attacked is another matter. They certainly took the threat seriously enough to issue all troops with protective clothing, respirators and a plethora of inoculations.

Another thing you overlook is the beauty of democracy whereby we are no longer saddled with Bush whose policies led to a democrat victory and a different approach to foreign policy.
