i hope that katong ato sang mga manufacturers , need sad na menosan ang price same sa price sa mga china made products pero dili isacrifice ang quality sa product , kana importante kaayo gyud to compete against china made products.

para nako, dili raman price war ang strategy sa manufacturing ug negosyo. In fact, naa gani mga products/services mas nilambo tungod gituyo sila ug pata-as sa presyo.

nara gyud na sa diskarte sa negosyo. para nako, mas maayo pa maintain ug taas nga quality kaysa sa paubos lang sa presyo.

To beat china, you really have to achieve a more efficient manufacturing sector, subsidized by govt against import taxes from china.

pero, if we lose on this aspect alone, I don't think the war has been won already. there are more aspects of the war that we can surely win on and by the looks of it, it appears we are already winning given the 1% export growth of China last July 2012 compared to the 11% on June 2012.

my Jap-brand bike is even made in China...
wallmart of USA even says 90% of their products are made in China..
if we can live without China-made things/products then well and good..
but for average Filipinos who could not afford non-China brand things our option is very slim..

I reckon your saying that china-made are more accessible because of the price (the usual reason people buy china). However, if you look closely when you buy a commodity, you will be surprised to find that many china-made aren't really the cheapest.

A very recent example was when I bought a Korean Shin Ramen in SM 2 weeks ago. I was confused why there are 2 designs of them but the same price. After careful investigation, one was from South Korea. The other, yup! China! Both being sold at the same price! Now that ain't fair now is it?

Again, consumers have to go beyond the usual notion that china-made are more affordable. Maybe for many goods they are but only the businesses (retailers) are able to take advantage of this fact because they are buying them cheaper but pricing them at a rate equal and even higher than non-china made. As always, buyer beware.

Another good news is that Japanese brands are moving their manufacturing to the PH because of the nonsense of china! weeee!

China is a poor source of rice. Vietnam is a better source as it is the first choice of rice smugglers. Our rice if you have tasted it cannot compete in price and quality with Thailand's. OT: By the way, this week almost 600 containers of smuggled rice passed through the port of Cebu. A volume unheard of even during the time of GMA. So much for matuwid na daan but this is another story for another time.

Too little too late, there is nothing more we can do. Come 2015, tariffs on almost all commodities will be subject to rates equivalent to 0. If you are a farmer, you will lose everything in 3 years. If you own a piggery or a poultry, you will lose everything in 3 years. If you are a fisherman, you will lose everything in 3 years. This is the sad reality. Produce from foreign countries will flood the Philippines and the manufacturing industry will cry rivers of tears. Only the cold and heartless retailing industry will survive. Our only remaining 100% pinoy produced exports will be the women we pimp out to aging foreigners. And you people want to pass the RH Bill? Hehehe

Not entirely true if you know the reality. The only thing keeping the Japanese from totally giving in to Chinese demands is the fact that they as a people do not want to share their technology. Unfortunately not all Jap firms are resilient like Toshiba for example which has pulled out production from the country. American firms tried China and now almost every American product has a cheaper Chinese imitation.

China is basically bullying manufacturers into transferring their production to China. China has a hold on the world's supply of rare earth metals equivalent to 95 percent and has stopped the export of selected REMs. Take for example what happened to Lexmark and Olympus in MEPZ and Ford, Intel, Toshiba, and Acer in Luzon. The truth of the matter is they are transferring because of China's refusal to export raw materials. The only way for these companies to gain access to REMs is by transferring to China.

The Japs will eventually cave in as REMs are essential ingredients in the production of electronics. It's just a matter of time.

But if both seller or consumer are able to find cheaper alternatives why not. But if both seller or consumer are able to find cheaper alternatives why not. I doubt this is still the trend now that the entire world has seen the true color of china.

Bullying aside, labor costs there have been growing even to the point of surpassing that of the Philippines. That said, the main reason for companies to go there is virtually eliminated now.

Another reason to manufacture there is to avoid them rallies and labor unions. With what china has shown of late, the gov't backed rallies/protests against japan, etc. This is not on the list of advantages again.

And of course there's the "china effect". Companies manufacture in china to save but ultimately end up fighting a cheap replica of the products they have manufactured their because of corporate espionage.

Again, just because something is made in china doesn't mean they are cheaper. This is not always the case believe me. The cost might be cheaper but then our businesses are the only ones who are able to take advantage of that but these same businesses price china made as if they were made in Germany.

Take for example a Cherry automobile. It's made in china right? Priced at 700,000+. Would anybody risk buying a china made car at that price?

The same goes for anything else. Just take a closer look people and you'll see that it's only in the mind most of the time. Let's get past the notion that china-made is cheaper and you'll see.

ambot lang sad ha.... i personally tested philippines vs. china products in terms of slippers bah... naa man ta famous na locally made slippers di ba... naka 2 nako sa locally made product pero sa china made 1 pa... and sa price, twice expensive ang local kaysa china made.. actually i dont know kung guba ang tawag ana basta nagbuwag ang tumbanan ug kanang rubber na mo contact sa yuta... both jud nga locally made... and gamiton ra nako ang local kung mo.adto ug mall and ang china maskin asa aside sa mall... mao na nakadecide ko na bahala unta maguba ang local atleast man lang ang price dili sad twice as much... infact both locally made slippers wala na magamit pero ang china to my surprise... masul.ot ghapon... or bahala ug mahal atleast man lang sad mo last longer than its china made counter part...
