Memory Incompatibility query

Gud pm, sirs ask lang ta ko kay ang computer sa amo restaurant cashier gigamit kay Pentium III specifically P3V133 ang board... naa cya 256 mb pc133 na twinmos installed, ako gi addan ug another 256 mb pc133 nga generic. My problem is that mu detect ang duha sa bios inig boot pero error gyud cya inig loading sa windows. the errors kay lain-lain pero memory errors gyud cya like: Blue screen with the Stop_xxxx error or sometimes musulod gyud cya sa windows pero mu call cya sa shutdown nga 1:00 min sa katong windowsNT something....by the way ako sad gi try ug taud each ram and vice versa, ok raman mu load man gyud ang os, wa say problem ang memtest sa each ram, pero if itaud nako ang duha then mag memtest ko naay error!... so is this a memory incompatibility issue or jumper setting? salamat. :mrgreen:

yeah I think its in the compatibality issue ,there are some rams that dont work with each other if you match them up with another brand. try to check each ram with any memory tester like http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp ,try just putting one ram and then switch it again then do another test to see which ram is defective. Also try only one stick of ram and try running it in windows and see which one causes the blue screen or errors. My last resort would be to reformat my hard disk and see if the blue screen will appear with a fresh copy of your OS. Also try to check in your bios default to set RAM requency to AUTO or just use the default setting and save and exit. Also if you have another unit that you can use that ram then test it and it might not be the ram but maybe your motherboard or some hardware thing.

As what I have posted, ako na gisuwayan ug tinagsa ang ram ug butang... memtest(using ubuntu live cd) no errors detected for the twinmos brand, still using memtest no errors detected on the second ram which is generic. Ok ra ang windows kung tagsa-tagsa nako ug butang as in no errors, blue screen or etc.... Pero if I put both ram in the slots memtest would detect errors and windows would not properly boot: -hang-up in the boot screen OR -blue screen with the STOP_ error, OR -WindowsNT automatic shutdown (mag countdown)...

*Just tried it on a foxconnboard also same thing... maybe Incompatibility issue jud cguro.

yup, most likely compatibility issue. have you check if these rams have the same latency and voltages?

@spookey yup same ra...just read in other forums sad nga naa gyud issues ang mga twinmos brand nga ram regarding compatibility.

if dili kaya ana nimo... upgrade pc... solve na imong problema...

for cashier machine... CELERON D - budget
PENTIUM 4 , D, - ok ra
CORE DUO - mahal ra

AMD - wala ko kahibaw...
