First of all, you do not have the right NOT to be disgusted/offended. Imagine sanctioning everyone who offends you at any given moment - we might as well give up our freedom of expression. On the other hand, you have the right to offend and be offended. Therefore, and this is very important, none of your existing rights, or the rights of your fellow human beings, were actually infringed. The perception that a DISGUSTING act is being done that is publicly seen by my nephews, nieces, families, friends, my children, and myself.
Second, gay marriage being "disgusting" is entirely a subjective opinion. It is your perception, along with your extended family (assuming you could speak for all of them). Feeling "disgusted" about it won't tell you if it's right or wrong. It only tells you you find it disgusting. Remember, none of your existing rights have been infringed.
The law is regularly amended --> Amendments are dictated by democracy --> Democracy = popular sentiment --> What is popular isn't always right (argumentum ad populum)....Morally corrupting the minds of the youth and everybody else around me further insisting that it is an acceptable act where in by law of the church and the constitution it's NOT!
We are trying to determine if gay marriage is "right" or "wrong" here. Like racial segregation and gender equality issues in the past, popular sentiment doesn't have any bearing in determining something to be "right" or "wrong". Eg. It was popular back then to be burning heretics at the stake - it doesn't necessarily mean it is "right" to burn heretics at the stake. I think I've already expounded on this matter numerous times throughout this thread. Again, what is popular isn't necessarily "right". If you can find any flaws in that logic, please do address them and I will listen.

As for the law of the church, I'm actually tired of differentiating christian "morals" from actual morality. They are two very different things. Let me give you an overview:
In Matthew, Jesus addresses the laws of Moses and other prophets before him stating:
While there are good christian morals/laws, there are also these:Originally Posted by Matthew 5:17

Obviously, the ever-evolving catholic church no longer follows any of these rules for obvious reasons. They've adapted to society, rational thinking, the changing social climate, the evolution of norms, etc., apart from some hard-to-die old habits like homophobia. They instead chose to ignore these huge sections in the OT, declaring them "null and void". And yet there are parts of the NT that actually acknowledge these OT laws. Here's one regarding "death to homosexuals" as is written in Romans:
That's what christian morals tells us - that the death penalty against homosexuals is not only necessary, but should be imposed upon with God's blessing.Originally Posted by Romans 1:24-32
On the other hand -
Morality, this time as a product of evolution, tells us this:
It is immoral to kill homosexuals because it infringes on their right to live.
So unless you agree that homosexuals, fornicators, disrespectful children, and adulterers should be put to death, leave christian morals out of issues that concern the state. (Separation of church and state).
(wow, that was long) :P
