there's more sincerity if people say things in person.

if the guy just got to know you through text over a short period of time and suddenly becomes magically in love with you, i consider that balderdash. basing love on how a person looks like and how he/she appears to be is just too shallow for me.

Saying it in person could establish sincerity and also formality and with all due respect to the person you are talking to.
