I'm learning from you guys! Keep it up!![]()
I've read some posts saying that ngano among the strongest performing economy man pero walay kalambuan sa kinabuhi sa mga tao? Well, a good performing economy doesn't necessarily mean that everybody or at least the majority of the people are having good lives.
Here's the logic: Most people put their money in savings accounts that give only 1% (at most) growth per year and the standing inflation rate is 3%. So how could people's lives get better when in fact their "savings" are not really growing at all and in fact are decreasing at a rate of 2% per year?
The stock market (PSE), one of the barometers of economic performance, is doing well. There is a huge inflow of cash coming from foreign firms (thanks to the struggling economies of Europe and the Americas). But with it, statistics show that there's only a little over 500,000 stock trading accounts which accounts to more or less 0.5% of the whole Filipino population. The PSE has an average historical growth of 17% per year which leads savings accounts (1%) and other bank accounts as well as fixed income securities (around 5% on average).
In other countries, people line up to buy shares of stocks of companies, in the Philippines, people line up to buy lotto tickets. Apparently, there's significantly something wrong with the financial IQs of most Filipinos hence keeping them from moving forward with the economy.

Second quarter growth figures will be released by Aug. 31 and officials are hoping it would exceed the first quarter result.
The Aquino administration has targeted a growth of up to 8.5 percent at the end of its term by 2016.
