Naturally. The four inner planets of our solar system are "survivors" of the "bash-up" period in the Solar System's history. At one point in time, between the orbit of Mercury and Jupiter, there were well over 100 planets who were vying for "orbital territory". So gubot kaayo, daghang binaggaanay, and most of those other planets nga wala na karon got totally smashed to bits...their fragments fell into the atmospheres of the other planets as meteors and created impact craters, on Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars, as well as the moons of the larger outer planets...ang nagabilin nalang nianing fragments nga wala "nasilhigan" sa 4 inner planets, clumped up between mars and jupiter to form the asteroid belt...pero it's a mistake to think nga human na ang "pag silhig"...sometimes asteroids still stray in the path of the planets...

...when that happens...you know the story...there have been two major Hollywood movies about it...I don't have to type more after this

Yep, not only Mercury...also Venus, the moon, Mars, and yes, even the Earth...that's why you have the yearly meteor showers Fortunately, meteor showers only contain dust to marble sized particles...the "big rock" is still yet to come...

...there's one called MN4, will pass by very close in April 2029, but will not hit the Earth.
