Why Pinoys are "geeting" dumb?

Because most of the Filipino families are spending so much time in television.. watching telenobelas and other trash news like showbiz etc. people are pretending and acting like what they have seen in the TV or in the movies. The medium in television are not use as educational tool to the communities.. sadly most of our politicians are very popular and took advantage of the medium for being a "trapo". Spending an average of 40 hours a week in watching TV is very unproductive.. that's one of the hundred more reasons related to this topic.

I beg to disagree though. Maybe "local TV" is more like it. In my case, had I not been watching cable TV when I was growing up, I would never have learned how to speak English. Had this happened, I'm sure I'm nowhere near where I am now (although I'm nowhere near where I want to be).

SCENARIO:

In writing our thesis, one should be responsible enough to read references as basis for our study, in which one should read at least one book. READ: READ, and get at least three passage related to our study as our theoretical background per book. I hate to downgrade my group mates' capacity to think, but what they did bothers me. Instead of internalizing while reading the passage from a paragraph, they instead just copied it as it is w/o analyzing its content for the sake of having the three standard passage. Lazy? perhaps, but it gets better/dumber. I instructed them to go at our school library so at least to borrow books for our study's expense. But I hear reasons "Library? sa net diay?","copy paste nalang na ui","Ikaw nalang adto hilig man kag books ako seldom raku mubasa","kapoi basa libro oi","Huwam nlng ta book then pa xerox page piso ra btaw".Lazy. I have to endure because instead of scolding them for incompetence, I would rather set an example. I borrowed three books, then I hear this phrases "naninga nimu ah! kaw bahala ha? bryt btaw ka". I'm not trying to look someone-cut-above-the-rest-type of guy, but I see this praises as pathetic as amoebas on a tank. Another thing, I never entered the public library, at least not in this city (Cebu) but I really like to go and read as to help our research paper to get going. But same thing, lame reasons fly like flies. I feel like quitting, but If I do, then what makes me different to them?

It's a combination. Most of the Pinoys are intelligent on one way and dumb on the other way. Politics, for example.

if you're an intelligent individual, you dont rely on your teachers, parents, especially GOVERNMENT for you to get better. it's all up to you. you want to be smarter or your kids smarter? then encourage them to read and read more. there's also nothing wrong with tv especially if you like to watch discovery, national geo, CNN. TV as a matter of fact is a great media if used correctly. some people are visual and sometimes things are more interesting when they're not conveyed in books with no pictures. naa ra gyud na nimo, amigo if you want to be intelligent/smart. you dont put that important a matter in someone else's hands.
