I’ve just read a letter from my Dad; address to his friend a columnist.
"I HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE LAST WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON WHEN I PAID MY ELECTRIC BILL AT MACTAN ELECTRIC COMPANY IN LAPU-LAPU CITY. AFTER FOLLOWING THE USUAL PROCEDURE OF HAVING MY BILL STAMPED BY THE SECURITY GUARD OF THE PRIORITY NUMBER AND INFORMING THE GUARD THAT I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN, I PROCEEDED TO THE TELLER FOR SENIOR CITIZENS ONLY TO BE SNUBBED. THE REASON FOR THE TELLER, A CERTAIN LIGAYA TIBAY, REFUSAL TO ACCEPT MY PAYMENT IS BECAUSE THE PRIORITY NUMBER STAMPED ON MY BILL IS NOT FOR SENIOR CITIZENS. THERE WAS NO OTHER CUSTOMER BEHIND ME ON THE LINE SO SHE MIGHT EXCUSE HERSELF TO ENTERTAIN/ACCOMODATE. SHE WAS JUST TOO ARROGANT AND INSENSITIVE TO TELL ME TO GO BACK TO THE GUARD AND HAVE MY BILL STAMPED THE RIGHT PRIORITY NUMBER. DEFINITELY, REPUBLIC ACT 9257 DOES NOT GIVE MS. LIGAYA TIBAY AUTHORITY TO INSULT OR HARASS A SENIOR CITIZEN WHO IS INTITLED TO ALL RESPECT AND PRIVILEGES UNDER THE LAW. NO OFFICE POLICY, AS EXPLAINED BY OTHER SECURITY GUARDS, CAN OVERRULE A NATIONAL LAW. ESPECIALLY THAT THE SITUATION IS VERY SIMPLE; A SENIOR CITIZEN WANTED TO PAY HIS BILL, THE TELLER INCHARGE FOR SENIOR CITIZENS IS FREE AND NOT ENTERTAINING ANYBODY, NO OTHER SENIOR CITIZEN CUSTOMERS WERE AROUND, YET, FOR THE VERY SIMPLE REQUIREMENT OF THE PRIORITY NUMBER, WHICH IS NOT MY FAULT BECAUSE I INFORMED THE SECURITY GUARD THAT I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN, I SUFFRED HUMILIATION. I HOPE MS. LIGAYA TIBAY WONT SUFFER THE SAME AS I DO WHEN SHE GETS OLD."
I myself, encountered one in that establishment. With this issue open-up, I then received a lot of complaints against MECO’s arrogant and unpleasant employees.
My Father is one of the “Alagad” in church; knowing him, he will just let it pass.
But, doing this in an old man!?
