MANILA, Philippines - Coconut water exports in the first four months of the year rose 175.80 percent to 5.99 million liters from 2.17 million liters in the same period last year.
Data from the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) showed that value of shipments rose 174.36 percent to $6,602,051 from January to April this year from $2,406,351 in the same period last year.
Coconut water exports to the United States was the highest for the period in terms of volume at 4.82 million liters, up 191.66 percent from 1.65 million liters in the same period last year. Shipments to the US were valued at $5,300,639, up 266.27 percent from $1,447, 213 in the first four months of 2011.
Shipments to the Netherlands was the second highest in volume with exports reaching 225, 189 liters, up, 369 percent from 48,000 liters in the same period last year. These were valued at $243,876, up 464.58 percent from $43, 200 last year.
Singapore is another large buyer with shipments to the country reaching 214,369 liters amounting to $217,963. No orders were made by the country in the first four months last year.
