Read it and totally agree. That is how i feel too. Because of the length of time i've lived here in America, much longer than my growing up years back home, sahay maglisud ko ug get along or sabot sa mga true pinoys nga nagdaku sa ato because there really is a big gap in attitude na lang gyud and yes in fact it is true we dont think for ourselves but as a group, as a whole, what is good for all humanity but still working together as a group creates positive results. I wish us Pinoys can model after that, then and only then transition to progress becomes much more easier and workable.

usa sad dali ra kaayo mamersonal ang pinoy(in effect, pinoys try to beat around the bush pod)...imong badlungon ikaw pay sad an. kay ngano daw imo gibadlong na dili man siya bogo. of course sometimes case to case man sad ni...pero its really sad kung magpabadlung ang pinoy like say, sa traffic laws unya kung dakpon daghan kaayog yawyaw, specially mga tawo na naa power, nganong di man ta pwede mangin equal regardless of wealth and status in the society, sa US gi dakop man gani to sa police ang astronaut sa NASA, b/c of attempted murder, diri kaha sa ato? kung si Manny Pacquiao naa gipusil, ma kiha kaha ni siya? Kalisod...as much as we would like to be nationalistic, di gyud mahimo, mao na people are leaving the country, kay murag wa man gyud pag-asa na, ganahan ka motabang, pero naay mga tawo na mas powerful pa nimo na mo-hinder sa imo pagtabang...

    unya asa man ka paingon?

Ive heard of this article; 12 little things you can do to help your country. see quote below
    source: http://deadliestdeadline.blogspot.co...no-can-do.html
12 Little Things Every Filipino Can Do to Help Our Country

A spirited discussion in one of the automotive forums i am a member of spurred me to Google Alex Lacson's list. I had actually met the guy when i was in college and he struck me as a nice, easy-going guy. Shy and quiet, he is the type who never says anything bad about anyone. for more details, readers can Google his name and find out the inspiring story of how his book "12 Things You Can Do to Help Our Country" came about.

    1. Follow traffic rules. Follow the law.
    2. Whenever you buy or pay for anything, always ask for an official receipt.
    3. Don’t buy smuggled goods. Buy Local. Buy Filipino.
    4. When you talk to others, especially foreigners, speak positively about us and our country.
    5. Respect your traffic officer, policeman and soldier.
    6. Do not litter. Dispose your garbage properly. Segregate. Recycle. Conserve.
    7. Support your church.
    8. During elections, do your solemn duty.
    9. Pay your employees well.
    10. Pay your taxes.
    11. Adopt a scholar or a poor child.
    12. Be a good parent. Teach your kids to follow the law and love our country.

oh and if you can, please pass the list on to your friends. To Alex, may your tribe increase my friend.
sa ako number 12 is the best one, kay it will create a chain reaction man gud, a good parent knows all the good things to do...
without bragging, si Alex Lacson is a Visayan, he is an Illonggo(Illonggo, Cebuano, Waray, etc, we're all the same, despite our dialect difference), and im proud to say that he and I are from the same place(i even know were his house is), he was featured in many newspaper articles and last year, murag gi feature ni siya sa GMA, i think it was Jesica Soho's reporters notebook...di ko sure sa title...

My kids can even comment about the difference kay one time adto mi ug Ranch 99 market which is frequented by chinese people since ila na territory, wala mga manners mangdasmag lang nimo dii mo excuse me or I'm sorry. Pero adto ko ug St. Francis Square where most Filipinos go, wala gyud ka problema nga dasmagan lang ka. None of that. Very polite all the way parking lot they give way mga chinese wala gyud batasan. I guess anad na sila ana sa ilang country. I am not talking about chinese filipinos here nga sa ato na nagdaku. I'm talking about real chinese people from other countires. Mga reckless drivers pa. So we Pinoys have so many great values and qualities in us kulang lang ta sa progress.
korek sad ka bro, pero no offense sa imo post ha...sa ako lang bro its better siguro kung mag benchmark ta against the best, mura ta nag sour graping if we compare ourselves with the negative deeds of others di ba? but its also nice to hear na di lang kita ang naay bati na binuhatan, bisag ang mga 1st world countries naa pud bitaw na sila mga laing kinaiya, pero na timing lang ang ilang timpla sa ilang kinaiya...tungod man sad sa ilang culture and traditions...

    peace!

indeed... what's the big difference is that other countries knows how to handle an embarassing situation, and help each other not to leak the bowels... however, sad to say... here everyone wants to scatter your bowel and most people want a share... ISN'T IT GREAT?

It is a matter of discipline, education, and the will to change one's attitude. I grew from a low average family. Through hard work I was able to finished college at the age 24. During school days in high school, my classmates teach me to paste consumed juicy fruit under the table. They said you are not pinoy if you don't do it. When I finished college, I mingled with professionals who taught me to wrap the used juciy fruit with it's wrapper and look for a waste basket or cans. That teaches me a lot and apply professionalism to other things in my daily lives. That changes my way of living even though my parents doesn't have that standards. While observing the environment, always remember the rule " Eat the fish and throw the bones". found things not useful throw it, but keep the useful ones...

Yeah you are right, what should be done, has to be done, or else all things we dream for our country will never be achieved.

it depends kon asa dapita sa kalibotan ang Pinoy.

kon naa diri sa Pinas, its true

kon naa sa other countries with very strict rules, ma usab man lagi ang batasan

beh, nganong ingon ini man ni?

like sa amigo nako nga truck driver. sa dinhi pa sa Pinas, abusado kaau mo drive
pag abot sa Saudi, pwerti bo-otana.

so depende sa na sa system sa country kon tinud-on ba gyud or relax2x lang.
