Are All “Christians” Christian?

How can you be so certain if a particular teaching/doctrine is really based on the Bible when in fact that ancient book (and other religious books as well) is open to almost x number of interpretations.. And each one is claiming to have the truth in them..

-This explains the reason why there are thousands of different Christian denominations and why there are hardcore Islamic fundamentalist states and the more liberal-modern Islamic teachings.

-I'm not Catholic but this could be one of the reasons why the Vatican declared that Church Tradition is equal in authority with the Scriptures so as to have unity in belief and minimize if not prevent individual interpretations of the Bible.

-It is the reason why there are people give up their lives by being suicide bombers, suicide planes crashed into buildings, or do mass suicide with church members because they truly believe that interpretation of their religious book.

-It is the reason why people don't agree on the divinity of Jesus Christ, as well as the concept of Oneness, Jesus Only Teaching, and the Blessed Holy Trinity. Each has their own interpretation.

-It is the reason why some hold their church service on Saturday, others on Sunday.

-Martin Luther, Jacob Arminius, John Calvin, John Wesley, Charles Spurgeon, Dwight Moody, Albert Benjamin Simpson, Oral Roberts, Billy Graham, Pat Robertson, Benny Hinn, Joel Osteen, etc..

- William Miller & Ellen G. White, Charles Taze Russell, Joseph Smith, etc..

- Felix Y. Manalo, Gregorio Aglipay, and Eli Soriano. Arsenio Ferriol, Wilde Almeda, and Bro Eddie Villanueva.

- Apollo C. Giboloy

Biblically grounded (in a sense that you can see the verse in the Bible) , but depende pud sa imong PERSONAL INTERPRETATION.

That is why (protestant) Christianity has splintered to at least 30,000 denominations/sects/cults and each of them will NEVER agree at ALL points in the Bible -- taking note na usa ra ka Bible ang ila basis.

The Holy Spirit must be confused then.

And the splintering will never end, as 7 entirely different sects /cults are being formed each week.

Example: on the topic of abortion, "Christians" will have different answers/reactions and each of them will base their answers according to their sect's teaching.

to have different views on certain things is fine, naa gud tay atong baroganan BUT on ESSENTIAL matters of the faith dapat there is UNITY.

sa bible man gud dunay mga butang nga black and white and duna pod GRAY AREAS, meaning silent ang bible as to what position to take. sa black and white nga list all denominations if they want to be truthful must adhere to that list , no compromise. But sa gray areas ang gamiton nato is atong common sense, now diha ta puede or duna tay freewill mobuhat og atong kaugalingong baruganan.

-wa man jud tay makita sa bible nga ang mga propeta og mga early Christians nag ampo before sa osa ka rebolto, so why say its okay? in fact there are laws found in the bible that strictly prohibits such practice.

-the bible teaches that Jesus is God, but other so called Christian denominations teaches that Jesus is only a man, so sayop sila, therefore dili sila matawag nga Christian because they are not following Jesus` teachings.



its easy to spot those who are professing Christian by studying the bible. dili ka Christian if you don't follow biblically sound doctrine.

So, if this is the case that Christians were splintered into many denominations (or more will spring up as the trend continues) according to their interpretations of their Holy Book, how can we be assured of whose holding the TRUTH? Who have the right interpretations of the Holy Scripture and how will they interpret it when the fact that scripture have no longer their Original scripts as it was written during its revelation?

As we can see this kind of trend, it is understood that Christianity cannot secures world unity through its comprehensiveness. Christianity leaves more room for dispute among its followers. In other words there will be more reasons for Non-Conformity than for Conformity. We can see it by the way they recognized their headquarters for example some said it should be in Davao City, in Quezon City, in Salt Lake City, in Silver Spring Maryland, Vatican and many more. Some said Salvation is by Faith alone and some disagree as it should be Faith plus Works. Some said this version of the Holy Scripture is the more authentic and some disagree as they have their own version of their Holy Scripture. We will be more glad if our Christian brothers and sisters here will be Truthful in revealing their respected denomination for us to see who is more nearer to the Truth.

what the apostle paul say is true...however it would be a lie if i say i'm not..
not a perfect Christian of course, but Jesus is my Lord and no other..hence i call myself a true Christian..that's how i would present myself but that doesn't mean i judge myself as one..of course only God can...
it's like you claim to be a true friend to somone you know, but only that person would know if he thinks of you mutually...

and i did not say i'm a true christian 'cause of the things i've done..what did i do?
the only thing i did is accepted Jesus..it's all about Him...i call myself a Christian 'cause He died for us on teh cross..

the issue of what apostle Paul here is about proving oneself to be righteous not about true Christian. Cause some Corinthians questions the apostleship of Paul at that time but as he said above text you quoted, he didn't judge himself as worthy or righteous but he totally rely on judgement of God as his Examiner.
