I am refering to Both JDM D15B Vtec engine
the stage2 JDMD15B Vtec is around 130HP, ms kusog ang D15 stage2 ky 16valve all the way, and D15B Vtec Stage3 runs in 12valve in low RPM and will switch to 16valve in higher RPM, forget already at what rpm 12-16-Vtec activation.. I drive both before ms kusog ang stage2
power is a factor but what really matters is power to weight ratio & of course, give credit to the driver nga kahibalo pag harness sa power.
based on all-stock, nindot ang handling sa civic as compared sa sentra s3/s4, ae101, mazda323 protege & lancer itlog/ pizza pie.
if you want mas elegant, ari sa mid-size category, like accord, galant, corona, camry, mazda626, bluebird altima.
depende unsa imo route, mostly highway ba or city traffic.
sa ani nga sedan gen(92-99), we have the civic eg, toyota corona st191 & galant vr4 v6
personally mao ni ako preferences mag travel :
civic eg- city traffic (double wish bone suspension)
corona- mixed route, way faster on a sprint than a civic eg w/ 1.6 zc engine
galant- excellent for cebu south road, the best handling(multi-link suspension) ani nga gen
maintenance wise, go for toyota.

Same with me, had a 96-98 mdl Honda Civic EK3 JDM 1.5L D15B 3 Stage Vtec, ang advantages nya, pwede siya ma tawag ug best of both worlds kay naa siyay modes to choose from (Dapit sa iyang Cambyu sa Multimatic naay makita nmo na dial kung gusto nmo siya e Econo, Drive or Sport mode), Econo pinaka tipid so far since its using only 12 valves city driving around 1:10-1:12 depende sa pag tunob nmo sa gasolinador, in Sport mode sad di sad ka ma bitin since its using 16 valves with wild cams during the vtec engagement at 6k RPM and light weight since it's a 2 door hatch back.
Now I've changed into still a Honda Civic pero 99-00 mdl SiR with a 1.8L engine (ang kabaw sa honda engines kabaw namu unsa na xa na makina) nindot sya kusug tanan hehehe, ride is good (depende if stock suspensions and depende pud sa imong wheels gi taud), and since manual siya ma control pud nmo ang consumption (high gears lang pirmi then upto 2k RPM lang) tried city driving for 1 week straight nag full tank ko pag Sunday then city driving everyday (Home-->Work-->Laag-->Home), after 1 week half tank ra ang nakuha nya, so naka ingon ko na tipid jud xa kung tipid pud imong driving.
Well mao na akong experience with a Honda Civic hope it helps the TS decide what to buy, but akong advice lang "Patience is a virtue" naka suway nako ana, naay nagbaligya na mas nindot na car ni ingon nlng kog "Bakit Ngayun ka Lang" hehehe!

Econo mode = 12 valve mode plus revs upto 2-3k rpm (normal driving condition), diha pud xa ang gi ingon nila na "Burn mode"
Drive mode = 16 valve with out wildcam revs the 5k
Sport mode = 16 valve , wild cam and vtec engagement at 6k RPM.
