FYI:We study English language to become competent and communicate with people around the globe not to make it as our national Language.
Is speaking in a foreign language make you less of a Filipino?
Let me ask you...unsa imo gisul-ob ron? nag Filipiniana ka or nag barong tagalog

Para nako there are other things to be nationalistic than just speaking in filipino or not speaking in a foreign tongue.

as stated in the first post, i chose english kay if you choose 1 filipino dialect, the other dialects moreklamo. Ako mismo, dili ko fluent mo English, pero nagpick lng ko ug language which is neutral para sa tanan and at the same time, para nako, gamit kay international language na gud na.

Dili malikayan, usa na sa rason why divided atong nasud kay dili malikayan, magkabikil jud ang bisaya ug tagalog no matter unsa-on ppa nimo ug convince ang tanan nga dapat, move forward na ta and forget that issue. pila na ka years na-implement nga tagalog as the medium pero up to now, divided japn ta. most cebuanos prefered to be called cebuano first than filipino. a lot of cebuanos dili modawat nga native na nga language nato ang tagalog. kamo? native diay na ninyo ang tagalog? diba moingon mo "bisaya ko oi", united ta ana?

dapat napud unta ang atong basis or source of pride is UNITY unta which is something to be or can be accomplished collectively or together.

Dili kay maayo musumbag tanan mexicano gi knock out like pacauiao or sige nalang kanta2x like charisse
or mga fil-am soccer players nga tisoy ra ang sikat kato tawn nga pinoy ug pure nga player natabunan unya kusod kaayo muingon nationalistic sila or proud to be pinoy.

Sometimes distorted or confused kaayo pag sabot sa kadaghanan ang nationalism and patriotism.
We are more of a confused countrymen than proud

yup. thats what i believe. pero...

sayon ra ba kaha ni buhaton? dali isulti pero lisud tumanon. kada-usa nato naay PRIDE, tan-aw nimo, dali ra sa mga bisaya or other dialects pag-lunok sa pride. the same way if bisaya ang gigamit as ang "main" language nato, tan-aw nimo igo ra moingon ang mga tagalog nga "That's great! lets go! gustong gusto ko to!"

Thats why for me lang, it could be better to choose a Neutral language ky lahi2x jud ug pangotok kasagaran natong pinoy. tungod sa kahambog nato sa kina-iyahan nga pride.

And what do u mean its not a problem about economy? well as you articulated it's about governance and those people not speaking out or standing against it. Well that's that another black eye to add. And those corrupt politicians no matter how you as an individual separate yourself from them and their deeds, still they are the embodiment of the entire filipino culture. We put them there and we still share the same soil, culture and traditions no matter unsaon nimo pag ingon there's not way you're gonna become corrupt like them. Or just try putting yourself in their shoes and expose yourself with possession of power.

Mao gyud na usually reaction or isulti nato when a finger pointed in our very noses questioning our integrity as Filipinos.."no ui ang gobyerno man ang corrupt and mao na naka pa pobre sa pinas" and whow are these corrupt politicians, americans or foreigners?

And yah the "brighter side" you mentioned about foreign companies venturing or investing here its because of our cheap labor and us being known to (not by choice but desperation for income) do anything just to keep ourselves outside the bounds of unemployment. Imagine our doctors willing to become nurses in the states?

And again, these "brighter side" are just mere crumbs we are forced to eat if only we haven't fallen from just economy 2nd to Japan in Asia 4 or 5 decades ago.

Pareha rana niingon nga "maayo gyud ko I'm the best wa gyud ko namatay pag crash sa sakyanan nga akong gimaniho"
I mean yah we are good at surviving because we have to considering the shortcomings and failures we committed ourselves into

Mao pud na giingon we can't handle criticisms. Mura ug dili kaayo tah maayo mu associate sa mga politiko nga corrupt
pero Manny Pacquia or charisse na gani WE ARE PROUD TO BE PINOYS!!!

Also one thing, you guys want are real dose of reality?
Try travelling around esp first world countries or in europe and flash you filipino passports proudly let's see how immigration officers prepare a "special" almost an interrogation kind of questioning as compared to other nationals.

    PEACE!!!
hhhmmm. so you consider that study as a false pride? why do you compare the fact that we are good users of the English language to Pacquiao and Charice whoever it is that made it big themselves internationally?
that is not false pride. that is a kind of pride that we should indulge ourselves into because it's something that was not done by one individual alone, but by a number of Filipino people who practiced and used the language in very expert way. it's one way of seeing that we can compete with other countries.
yes, false pride na'ng cge ta ug proclaim nila Pacquiao and all the others, because it's their own effort that they made it to the top. kung buot huna-hunaon, we don't have that much right to share with their pride.

it is something that we should be genuinely proud of kay kita man gud mismo ang nibuhat,, it's from our own effort and wit.. also, knowing that discrimination of Filipinos from other countries makes it more reasonable for them to come back here to our country and usbon how other countries see Filipino people by starting here sa ato own country. it's not the story about how OFW bring more dollars to the country anymore. it's about the people themselves who bring the dollars to the country.

and the status of country as the choice for their next location due to the fact that we provide cheap labor will eventually be changed if we equip the people with the right skills and develop them with the right attitude. if we are successful with that, then we can add more credit for the quality of services we cater, thus, we can demand for a higher value at the same time, become more renowned with the service that we have. as you see, developing countries currency gain more value in the world economy. and philippines is a developing country. our peso, bisag medjo hinay pa jud ang saka, is gaining it's value back.

anyway, i had fun exchanging thoughts with you. hehehe. very insightful.

giusab? no, no, no. ang name ray giusab? para dili masakitan ang pride sa uban dialects. bisan unsaon ug bali2x, tagalog ra gihapon na. igo lng sila nag-inject ug a few words from each dialect(not from all dialects pa gani tngale)

ang pride, dili na malikayan, naa jud na, pero ang pagpili ug National Language, usa sa makapatandog sa garbo sa tawo. ikaw, if magdecide na ang tanan kalibutan nga fair na tanan gender unya ang pili-on nga Main Clothes kay ang Spaghetti ang miniskirt, would you wear it and be proud o you will choose to use a man's clothing or perhaps, a unisex clothing.
