Born Woman is different from Becoming a Woman.....whether how much you insist on being a woman....you will never become one....
Its not because we are discriminating you....its because Its The TRUTH....

this is a good topic and i hope that everyone will have a good thinking about this. remember, the discussion is about someone who might have used inappropriate words and offended a group of people. let us be mindful that they are similar to us - they also have feelings. let us not abuse the word democracy.

    have a great day everyone!

Actually, Miriam Quiambao was factually correct in saying homosexuals will burn in hell (to put it simply) if they do not stop and repent from their 'evil' ways. That's at least according to the Bible.

Here are some nice passages to back her claim... ^_^
    Lev. 18:22
"You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."

    Lev. 20:13
"If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them"

    1 Cor. 6:9-10
"Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

    Rom. 1:26-28
"For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper."
So if you're a gay christian thinking you're not being condemned by the Bible for 'acting the way you do', you're wrong.

I'm not especially keen on calling anyone an 'abomination' just because they're gay, but what can you do? That's just exactly what the Bible says. >_>

As for homosexuals entering a pageant such as Ms. Universe, that's up for debate.

Sorry but I think that is a lame marketing strategy. Let Ms. Universe stand as the Ms. Universe pageant as it was before. Sorry mga ka feathers but this is democracy.
Very sensible. LGBT, but reacting the way they did only makes them look like traditional politicians....

for someone in her position, that was very insensitive. she's very out of touch with the world if she thinks she can just say things like that and expect minimal repercussion.

the lgbt, on the other hand, is overreacting. but i guess that's expected. any issue that will give them a platform to cry foul from, they will promptly jump on. while miriam's statements are insensitive, it's hardly anything new. they're just doing this for the media mileage

That's the problem right there I guess people are just uber-sensitive these days erstwhile making themselves standout of society where naturally someone would say things they might not appreciate. LGBT sounds like just another leftist group to me. Not surprisingly came out of the same strain. They'll even sue and destroy their lives of an individual over their precious group.

@machinecult: LGBT means Lesbians, Gays, Bi-sexuals, Transsexuals.

People actually say that (the words in bold) a lot when disparaging a certain group. Keywords: "any issue" "doing it for the media mileage". Can't help but wonder what other 'issues' gays are clamoring to cry foul upon, or how they perfectly predicted a few irritated comments on Twitter/Facebook aimed at Ms. Quiambao would stir up a media storm.

While they do have to admit they're all 'doomed to burn in hell' if they won't repent (according to the Bible), maybe all they're asking is for people, especially people in the media, to stop discriminating against them? I say 'discriminating' because homosexuality is not like murder. The latter- you have the choice to commit at some point in your life, the former- beyond anyone's control / it's something a gay person is born with.

Anytime you single out a certain group and cast a bad light on them, not because of something they did, say, murder, but because of something beyond their control, like their intrinsic homosexuality, then you're discriminating against them. That's the truth. It's typically the same with racism, except in that case, it's skin color.

On a side note, some people aren't Christians. So it's not wise to assume your religious beliefs apply to everybody.
