Mga guys, just so you would know. yaw jud mo compyansa, there's one restaurant at SM Northwing that's really horrible. I'm not gonna say the company's name but they're really horrible in terms of Food Safety & Sanitation and Food Handling techniques. by the way, to begin with, i'm a culinary arts graduate. I applied to this company as a cook and last week I was invited to observe in their kitchen about the flow of their work and how it operates in a daily basis. Of course, I wasn't there just to observe and take a look at them, but instead I did my obligation based on my professional knowledge and skills about cooking. I was their for half of the shift or equivalent to 6 hrs. And that's without pay at all. Anyway, it was just an invitation as one of their process for application. But those hours that I stayed in the kitchen, I discovered a lot of things inside the facility that you can never imagine. While I was there, I've said to my self, "Man, this is not what I've learned from school". I know for a fact that in this type of industry, it's a fast phased environment, but it should not worked out that way. If you could only imagine, from food handling and preparation, to cooking, plating and then serving, for christ sake, this company I should say dont have any idea what food safety hazard is all about and how it could affect to public health. I mean, the kitchen crew I would say have knowledge about cooking but they don't practice food safety and sanitation at all. What I can only say is that I wish you were there to witness everything. On monday, I received a call for another invitation. I responded that I'm not available anymore and i got accepted from a different restaurant. But it's not true. It's not that I don't want to deal with those type of people, eventually I really wanted to be part of their team might as well I can help them and share what I have learned based on my professional education, but hey, if I want to change they way they used to, then it's gonna be a big mess for me. Til now, I'm still sending my application to local hotels and restaurants. wish me luck nlng..

    LEONKAMOTE ....

Welcome to the club . As I assumed that you just graduated from a culinary school and anticipating to right away work as a cook in a kitchen , its like that bai . No matter where you go , even in Europe or in the states . Samot na sa Asian countries . So what do you expect in the Philippines ?

If you are really that concerned , you should have accepted the offer and practice it yourself aron makita nila how it should be done . Most cooks in town dont have formal culinary education , all they have are experiences under their belt . You can talk to the GM and discuss what you can do . Its a matter of what you can do to the company and rather not what the company can do to you .

I have been cooking for quite sometime , some of you guys are even half the age of what is under my belt . I have been to different establishments also just to find out that only one are actually really clean and practices the food safety standards and its not even an establishment . Even 5 star restaurants are dirty or dont practice it all . Wala man gani na sila kabalo unsay meaning sa HACCP .

Anyways , I suggest you accept jobs that makes you happy which is obviously cooking . Goodluck to you !!

Bai , MOLDS is one type bacteria that uses the air as its catalyst and the travel mode when contaminating foods .

Even though how meticulous we are about foods, sometimes we in some reasons don't have a choice of where, when, what to eat.. suggestion: boost immune system, lifestyle changes in the hope of producing good immune response.
