Many individuals across the globe are unhappy with the regime in China and it's current behavior be it expansionism, repression of ethnic minorities, repression of religion, failure to support the UN, unfair trade practices or public health scandals involving dangerous consumables. I am sure that a great many people in Vietnam are alarmed by China's aggression and Australia has also expressed concern about what is happening. The UK and The US have long been critical of China's attitude towards not only it's neighbors, but the international community in general.

We may be no match militarily and perhaps we cannot count on our leaders to do the right thing in this spat with China, but do not underestimate the power of the individual. As the Kony 2012 campaign has recently demonstrated popular opinion carries weight and can shame those in power to take appropriate steps on issues which have been overlooked or ignored. Communicating our situation through blogs and forums can garner international support and this is something any one us can do.

China coldly warned the Phils not to internationalize this sovereignty issue... this is because they were counting on the rest of the world not caring enough about us to challenge them and their actions. This is exactly why WE DO need to internationalize what's happening at Scarborough Shoal.

we are suffering because we did not care about ideas before.. now we are blaming CHINA?

blame yourself for patronizing the US brands and other western brands, why? because of this beliefs they can charge you whatever they like and yet you still believe it is the best.

Chinese people is just doing business here in the Philippines, the Chinese Government is different.

If the Philippine Government did something wrong does that mean the Whole Philippine People and its product s.u.c.ks cause the government did something wrong?

So, now... you will buy US products? Buy it! Just don't make others follow what you think.. they have choices.

The thread starter has been quite clear about not condemning Chinese citizens or those of Chinese heritage. This is about the actions of the Chinese Government who bully their own people as they are bullying us now. China's rise has been a result of the free market where what matters most is money. Economic sanctions from a consumer level (informed choice) is within our grasp. No need for you to pick up a rifle when you can just choose a different brand at the local supermarket.

Thanks! Kony 2012 campaign was exactly what I have in mind and being in the business of internet marketing as well, I for one ditto you on the power of blogs and forums + of course the nearly 1 billion strong active social media users. I for one believe we are in a day and age where an idea from a common individual have the capacity to explode to galactic proportions leveraging the power of the information age. Check out avaaz.org for more of these internet campaigns if your not yet a supporter.

OT: I find it so funny that all of a sudden some people just drop by here and say their anti-US views as if this was a pro-US one. lolz

this thread is more on trade relations than being a political one. the dispute between china and our country is a different matter. we can take that to international court, UN, or any organization that may care to listen. but for me, not buying or avoiding trade with china will not help us, but instead damage our economy and cut needed revenues needed by government for purposes of development, either social or defense.

let's say i'm a dealer of genuine DC shoes and shirts. would i have to sacrifice going thru china and directly from u.s., and pay more just to get the same "made in china" items? where's the logic in that? i'll be losing revenue since people may look somewhere else, or even buy copy items for authentic items will be more expensive due to shipping cost.

the philippines is also known as haven for knock-off items, but where did these items came from? china of course. but we take the heat for people loves to buy china phones, china ysl items, a&f, nike, dc shoes, etc.

but one thing to consider, either rip-off, or authentic, the businessman pays taxes, provides jobs, and keeps the economy going.

and what's with the samsung? my friend has a samsung galaxy Sl i9003, its labeled made in china for samsung. TS, if maguba nang cp nimo na viets man kaha? are you sure na dili made in china ang replacement parts ana? i have a friend who owns a celfone shop, tanan parts didto, gikan china. and yes, its labeled made in vietnam, but chances are, it was finished in vietnam. but who knows, those tiny chips sitting inside to handle processes, could be made in china, especially the copper plates that helps secure the chips to the board.
