This isn't the 40's anymore. We now have the internet and everyone is connected and everyone on the planet knows what's going on so no nonsense regime can live as long as they could before the information age.

The chinese wouldn't go to an international court unless they already have someone there that will favor them on this case because they know themselves that their claims are baseless and idiotic while at that.

PS: Why are we still buying their goods again? hehe
it isn't a given. It really depends on the sentiment in the U.S. I'd say it's 50/50 for now, there is a significant amount of Chinese-Americans in the U.S., as there is Fil-Americans. We don't know if the American public will care enough about the Philippines to go to war with China in a long campaign of war and most-likely a relatively high combat casualty conflict. The American public is weary of war. But if by chance U.S. will take its chance to curb China's usurpation of super power status from the U.S. If the U.S. needed a reason to initiate hostilities with China this might be the reason, especially while the U.S. has the upper hand.

Philippines sees gas in China-claimed reef
AFP News – 14 hours ago

The Philippines said Tuesday it was hoping to help secure its energy future by developing a natural gas field in an area of the South China Sea also claimed by China.
The comments come amid high tension with China over territorial disputes in the South China Sea and with Manila and Beijing locked in a standoff over the Scarborough Shoal.
Energy Secretary Rene Almendras expressed optimism that Reed Bank, which lies about 148 kilometres (92 miles) from the Philippine island of Palawan, would yield massive amounts of natural gas.
"Reading the statements (of higher reserves on the Reed Bank), I cannot help but smile and be happy because hopefully it's true, and its big resources will help us face the need for energy in the future," he told ABS-CBN television.
He was referring to reports that Philippine-owned company, Forum Energy, had discovered possibly the country's biggest natural gas reserves there.
Last year the Philippines accused Chinese vessels of harassing an exploration vessel off Reed Bank, and Manila has repeatedly accused China of aggressive actions in disputed waters.
Manila and Beijing have been locked in a standoff over Scarborough, a group of islands in the South China Sea, since Chinese vessels blocked Philippine attempts to arrest eight Chinese fishing boats' crews earlier this month.
Two Chinese patrol ships in the area were still facing off Tuesday against a Philippine coast guard vessel, about 230 kilometres west of the main Philippine island of Luzon, officials said.
The Philippines has said both Reed Bank and Scarborough Shoal are well within its maritime territory but China, which claims almost all of the South China Sea, disputes this.
In a speech before Congress last year, Philippine President Benigno Aquino vowed to defend the country's claim to Reed Bank.
Forum Energy is to update its estimate of the Reed Bank reserves later this week after processing new exploration data, its majority-owner Philex Petroleum Corp. disclosed in Manila.
"This report is expected to show an improvement in the resources previously known," Philex told the Philippine Stock Exchange.
Its previous estimate for Reed Bank was 96.28 trillion litres (3.4 trillion cubic feet) of natural gas.
The prospect is located near Malampaya, the Philippines' largest currently known gas field, which is operated by Royal Dutch Shell...

China and Taiwan want to grab the Reef bank because they already know that it has many gas reserves in it., but if the reef bank doesn't have any oil reserves China and Taiwan doesn't bother to Grab or steal one of our own Territory...

This is just a crazy idea, just what if our government send soldiers to act as fishermen as bait for the Chinese within the 200 nautical miles area of area, well that covers recto bank and Panatag. The news said that these Chinese vessels harass filipino vessels on these area but they have not actually taken any life or taken prisoners, they charged. The point we should send people to be pawns, to be actually captured by these Chinese, fires upon? sure. Killed? Maybe.Which will give enough leverage on the Phils to actually bring this matter on the international court. Well especially if they take some prisoners or if they take some lives. We could actually ask for damages against China.

The good thing is it wont be us starting it, and other states might take sympathy on the Phils. Especially the neighboring states considering the same treatment they get from China.

Yeah, I think I am watching too many military documentary.

Let's just say one soldier in the stand off, got tired picked up a granade laucher, then fired at the other ship, or WHATEVER... There's war between Philippines and China...

If the first paragraph happened, since it was not an official order from the government, only the person who caused the conflict will be convicted....

If in war. The Chinese citizens living in the Philippines will be deported or will be asked by their government to safely return to their country. but Naturalized Chinese or chinese who are living over 10 years in the Philippines are already considered as Filipino citizens. if they are in the Philippines they will be considered as local citizens of the Philippine government. if they chose to move to china then they are considered as local citizens of the Chinese government. so the advantage of Filipino Chinese citizens are ~ they can choose countries to stand with from where they choose to stay...

Yeah racists, what's next.. how about build death camps so you can kill all of us Filipino-Chinese. Even if we have nothing to do with this *ing mess.

I can't believe some of you are actually dreaming about having a war with China. Are you guys bat-shit crazy or just incredibly dumb? And you're even suggesting we send soldiers there to act as bait.. what sacrificial lambs for your warlust? You people want to commit suicide, by all means do it and why don't you volunteer to act as bait for the Chinese gunboats? Don't drag the country into this mess this is a war that can't be won. Even the dumb government we have now is smarter than your lot, at least they know diplomacy is the best way.
