A few friends and I went downtown specifically in the Carbon Market area to shoot. Luckily, this gave me a chance to field test the Canon 35mm f/2. I love it!

Nice set! I like the field of view of this lens
@eag: Thank you. You have one too? It's definitely an underrated lens just like the Nifty Fifty. It would probably be on my cam most of the time unless I need to take out zoom in a situation where I can't move back or forward![]()
wow....nice street bhai!!! wish i have a 35mm now....
nice set fafs..
how does it compare to samyang 35mm 1.4 kaha sa...i read nga pildi daw ang 35 1.4L sa samyang.
i think im buying this lens soon.
@martiniko: Thank you. Please read reviews about the Canon 28mm f/1.8, Sigma 30mm f/1.4, Canon 35mm f/2, and Samyang 35mm f/1.4. Please also view actual photos taken with the above lenses in flickr or photozone.de. Then decide which one you prefer based on your shooting style.
@pepponeskie: Based on my own research, the Samyang 35mm f/1.4's IQ beats all 35mms except maybe the German-made equivalent lenses (wala pa guro makapildi Leica or Zeiss guro, he he). I really wanted the Samyang bai but sadly it's only a manual focus lens. If you're a Canon user, don't think about buying a Nikon version and then using a Nikon to EOS adapter with focus confirm chip. While it does work, I read one user short circuiting his EOS because bati na adapter iya napalit. I think nindot ang Samyang 35mm f/1.4 kung videographer pud ka using the HD capture of your DSLR.
With that said, if the Samyang 35mm f/1.4 were half its current price, I would have probably gotten it. Nindot pud guro kung naa ka old EOS DSLR na pwede i-change ang screen to split screen or anything that would help you manually focus. Kung Nikon user ka, I think mga Nikon DSLRs mu-focus confirm man gihapon kung MF lens. Not sure though.
And I really don't know whether Samyang has an authorized service center in Manila.
At least for the following 3rd parties...
Sigma = JT Photoworld?
Tamron = Photokina Marketing Corp.? (Reason why I got a Tamron and Aperture Trading offered a 2-year warranty, i.e., sila padala to/from Manila for free).
But do these brands have?
Tokina = ?
Samyang = ?
So i-consider pud nato availability of service centers for our gears kay kung wala, labad dyud sa uloAko Nissin di622 Mark 1, I don't even know how to have it fixed kay mag-misfire.
Pero based on this flickr set of Samyang 35mm f/1.4, Flickr: The Samyang 35mm f/1.4 AS UMC Pool
It also shares the same vignetting characteristics. Unsa ba dyud pronunciation ani?
Veenyet? Vignet?![]()
@pep: I'm not that brave bai85mm imo gamit sa mga photos bago nimo gi-share sa Street Photography Show & Tell? If yes, pagka-hait.
