the school used academic freedom as “an excuse to impinge on the personal rights and freedom of their students."
boss, the school has its handbook or code of conduct that is at par with the laws of the land. one of the violations of the girls was smoking and/or drinking in public places --> isn't this violating the laws of the land when you're 16?
and besides, kabalo kaayo na ang mga girls nga sayop to ila gibuhat oi. nag gara-gara lang jud sila. nanghinaot nga dli masakpan ba. wala lang gud sila nag hunahuna nga makita ra diay ghapon kung i-post sa fb tsk tsk tsk

and ignoring the TRO? oh yes makaingon pud ko nga marunong pud ning stc hehehe...kay what if nisugot ra pud sila nga mopaso ang katong mga girls? unsa naman pud storya ang mogawas? basin makaingon to uban studyante nga maypa nagpabadlong ko dah kay makapaso ra man diay ghapon di ba unfair pud intawon sa mga students nga muna-muna intawon paningkamot nga dli makalampas sa code of conduct nga gi-set sa school.
in my opinion, stc defied the tro coz they want to stand up for their decision, bahala na unsay kadangatan sa ilang gibuhat (ako lang na paminsar ha, walay official statement nga nigawas bahin ana)

with the issues going around...i didn't have any regrets that i enrolled my 2daughters in STC...i believe and trust the schools reputation...if that will happen to my kids..i will not tolerate them at all...they already know what's right and wrong..the more if they are properly guided by us, parents...

Everyone has a right to pursue justice, bai, if he feels that his/her rights are being violated - in this case, being banned from joining the graduation exercises. They DID try to talk it out it within a private setting, but no settlement was reached - hence, the lawsuit. Many times people have filed cases and lost to their own embarrassment. This case is different since the judge granted the plaintiff's favor already.

You know, I just can't help but notice, but maybe the reason why the pro-STC folks here blame the parents for suing the school is because they don't want this issue to be discussed out in the open. Reading it from a non-sectarian-school graduate's stand point, it's almost like some of us here wanted to HIDE this issue and keep it in the dark.

This case is like watching how a respected mother punishes her child severely for misbehaving. To some it may seem harsh, to others it may not. Some of us here want to talk some reason into the mother, others just want to push away the curious on lookers and told them to mind their own business.

If this is the reason, then I guess these people are just concerned of how that publicized punishment would affect the reputation of the mother - a symbol of authority. Perhaps these people are affectionate to the mother as well and want to protect her image. (Maybe because these people also believe that in some way the mother was wrong, and didn't want to make it so obvious. Why else would they want to quiet the fuss down?)

They keep saying "Serves the kid right, she misbehaved," but then the real issue here is not about what the child did anymore. It's how the mother PUNISHED the child. Was it fair? Was it legal? Was it fit to the child's offense?

This is understandable, but sometimes it distorts one's judgment of right and wrong. If this is indeed the case, try to reevaluate yourself on how much you lean on to either sides of the story. Er, coin.
this is the best post for me

There should be a punishment man jud if they broke regulations of the school but that kind of punishment di nana mawagtang sa utok sa mga studyante sobra ra kaau na for me. Akong opinion bow
the question is...if the parent's fail to rein in their children kinsa nmn lang ang mu rein in sa ilang children?

compute the number of hours the child spend in school and at home...

compute the number of hours the parents spend with their children...

    the rules are already there...

they know the rules then why the heck break it? just for the heck of it?

punishments are often deemed harsh...so? ganahan kag punishment nga tam.is? maau pag wala nalang ka nagpunish..

mind you...the concerned parties brought this upon themselves...why blame the school for taking action? why blame the whistleblower? why blame anyone actually? it's a defense mechanism...

i have known people who were able to graduate but was not allowed to take part in their graduation rites...they did fine actually...

all this talk about trauma...karon raman ni...uso ba d.i ni sa panahon nga latoson tas maestra? uso ba d.i ni sa panahon nga hagbongon tag subject kai atong notebook spring dli katong binder?

where was all this talk about trauma...injustice during the time when catholic schools are EXTREMELY strict?

life is not a bed of roses...to believe so is BS.

that is exactly why i take the editorial as ones opinion. it came from an alum from that school of course it's going to be onesided. stc's side er coin whatever metaphor they find comfortable. and mostly the comments, explanations done are constructed in such a way............ ex. sabi ni ganyan ganito at ni.... sinuway namin ang utos ng, dahil sabi ni, mali raw.
......please maniwala kayo sa sinasabi ko. etc etc.

it's just like saying "im open to it but i 100% disagree with it" see how conflicting that is?
