Maceda said that under the Manual of Regulations for Private Schools, school authorities could discipline students who violate the institution's rules anywhere - as long as these are committed when students are engaged in school activities.

Maceda also cited a Supreme Court ruling which said that the school could punish students even if the act is committed outside school premises and not connected to campus-related functions - as long as the misconduct "involves his status as a student or affects the good name of the school."

I do agree with the rappler article but be careful to draw comparisons with it.

If you read the article closely, it says that FEU was allowed to investigate further personally because their students assaulted a teacher outside the campus in a restaurant. That, is worthy of digging in personally because it can be escalated into a criminal case.

But with the pictures, it's up to you to decide if it's worth giving STC a bigger stick. For me, its not.

But the SC said this rule is not rigid. The school may exercise its power to investigate offenses committed outside the campus if they harm the school's name.
    sa akong pagsabot..

pwde ma investigate and ma discipline sa school ang kani nga case if indeed the acts of those student intended to malign the school(STC). pro murag dili man kay ng party man sila together with their parents yata..

do u have stats for this? as far as i know, kids with questionable and/or absentee parents (not the "ultra conservative" ones) are most likely to be badly influenced.

anyway, we haven't seen the pics of these girls. but it is the prerogative of the school to decide which is against their set of rules and guidelines with regards to the pics. in effect, wala ta'y mahimo kung ang decision sa school is to ban the girls from attending their graduation rites.
i send my daughters to stc coz i believe in the value formation that the school teaches my children. and with this issue, i tell my daughters this: ayaw mo pag kiat kiat kung dli mo ka-take sa consequences.

In a press conference Friday night, Atty. Balili said there was no reason to hold the school in contempt despite what happened Friday, because the TRO was deficient.

“We have all the right to disobey the law,” he added.
    Source: Despite court

In his order, Navarro enumerated the actions that STC has to comply:

    1. That the two girls be made to join the march during the processional along with the rest of the graduates during the commencement exercise.

    2. That their full names be called when the roll of graduates is announced during the commencement exercises.

    3. That they march along with other graduates to receive their certificate or diploma on the stage or podium during the commencement exercises.

The judge also ordered STC to treat the concerned students "with kindness and civility befitting true graduates of a respectable institution" without any discrimination during the entire program.

The STC said, however, that it has filed a motion for reconsideration, thus the action.
So sad and disappointing to know that an Institution based on the teachings of Jesus Christ where love and compasion is paramount could not find it within themselves to forgive the mistakes of adolescence.

sige ra man mog comment nya wa mo kita sa pictures. Ask their batchmates ngano gi-ban sila. It is not only bikini pictures but it will only be shown in court.

Nidako na hinoon ang issue and definitely maapektuhan na gyud hinoon ang mga bata.
