    A GLASS OF MILK

It will be as a man who was going on a journey called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them. -Matthew 25:14

Once there was a boy who had an ambition, people considered impossible for him. He came from a very poor family, but that didn’t blur his dream of earning a College Degree and then landing on a good job that could elevate him and his family from poverty. He bore all hunger and exhaustion just to pursue schooling. So he could somehow help in his family’s finances, he sold newspapers every morning before going off to school.

But times were really rough. One Morning he went to school without a bit of food, because of extreme hunger, the poor boy decided to swallow his pride and asked for food from his neighbors. He came to a fine house and knocked on the door. A pretty young lady of his age appeared in the doorway. The young lad, suddenly abashed, found himself asking for a glass of water instead the young lady warmly welcomed him in. She realized how famished the boy was, though he didn’t admit it, and out of the goodness of her heart, she decided to give him a glass of milk instead of the water he has asked for. The boy was overwhelmed with gratitude as he took the young lady’s generous offer. He suddenly felt warm and rekindled, as the single glass of milk sincerely and generously given to him by the girl, it gave him the strength and inspiration to push forward in pursuing his dreams. Hence, he used all his abilities to the fullest to reach his goals.

Years passed by quickly. Both had grown up. The young lady was unexpectedly infected with a serious disease that required the services of a rare Specialist. For two (2) weeks, she was confined in the Hospital. Fortunately, because of the expertise of the Specialist, she recovered. She asked for the bill, dreading the huge amount and wondering if she would be able to pay for it. To her surprise, she found that all her expenses from the Hospital, to the services of the Specialist, had been fully paid. She asked the Specialist Doctor – a male just about her age –as to how this happened, to her surprise. The Doctor simply smiled and said: “All your expenses have been paid years ago… by a glass of milk”.
