worth ba mu upgrade from i5 2500k to i7 2700k?

it is worth to do the upgrade if your games are CPU animals and the upgrade cost is not an issue... pero, gamay ra mana sila ron na need ug faster CPUs... most of the newer titles like BF3 are GPU animals... better get the latest top of the line GPU for the BF3... for sure, the newer game titles kay mo follow sa ani na path..

for the i3 (sandy bridge), dili sila ma bottleneck for a HD7970... pas2x mana sila... but again, if the games are CPU dependent, mas hinay sya ug performance compared to the siblings nya like the sandy bridge i5 and i7...

by the way, the sandy bridge i3-2120 are faster on most games than the 1st gen i5 and i7... including the i7 extreme (some gaming titles)... naa ko'y gi post dri sa other thread from Hardware Canucks na gaming performance review...

i7 2700K is for multi-gpu configuration.

for your purpose, big "no"... maski pa heavily multi-threaded pa ang gamitan, para nako dpa gihapon worth it... i don't own these systems but generally i doubt if you would even feel any real world differences at all...

by the way medyo OT, if you are not using SSD yet, i strongly suggest dha nalang ka mo bunal

in short TS, kana lang sang i5-2500K nimo ang gamita... then huwat gamay for the Ivy Bridge processors... mas ok siguro kani ang paliton nmo if mag plano ka ug upgrade for your LGA1155 mobo... but, the performance difference is not that stellar compared to the SB (just my guess though). better wait for the next technology to be released para ma enjoy pa nimo ug another year nang imohang i5 then do the upgrade...

but again, if money is not an issue, ok ra good kaayo nang i7-2700K... the 100 mhz difference from the i7-2600K is clear... but only on benchmarking... if you'll do video editing, you can unleash and reap the power of the i7... but as you've mentioned, you informed that it's for gaming only, your i5-2500K is more than able... that CPU is also a beast...

depende sa GAME TITLE and GAME SETTING..most modern games recommend quads.

though sure Main CPU overkill theoretically, it would not be fully appreciated if your vc is just GT220 or HD5770..

to fully appreciate i7 2700k, Play the BEST games with it , max setting on 2 x 7series | add Nvidia for Physix + CUDA at 4 x 22" (at least LED ) monitors

specially if u pre-sell ur i5 2500k at very low price..

kung "gaming" gani ang basis for the upgrade, ayaw nalang... useless ang hyperthreading when it comes to games. it may give u a slight performance difference but its non to negligible compared to upgrading your graphics system(which games are mostly based on...)
