if they are just planning to sell it, i dont think that they will be willing to die for it.. but as you can see they are willing to give their life because thats who they are - farmers, and they depend on the land as much as we depend on office or factory jobs here in the city..

why do thousand should suffer so that a few cojuanco's and aquino's can live an abundant life?

let us not forget that the bigger issue here is not whether the farmers can sustain the land that would be distributed to them, but if, at the first place, they have any rights on the very land that they till according to the common law. the Supreme Court has decided that they do, and that is that.

comparing the case of Hacienda Luisita to Uganda and Zimbabwe is unfair for a number of reasons. turning over the lands of the Hacienda Luisita to the farmers is not in anyway initiated by a megalomaniac dictator such as Idi Amin, or done for political favors as what Mugabe did in redistributing land to political allies.

reducing the capacity and the capability of farmers to manage their own lands, and using this as a justification for them not to own something they have taken cared of for more than 30 years, is not only prejudice. it is also a grave disregard of their history and their experiences.

hehehe... really? that's how you respond. do i have too much ideals? or i was just stating the facts. here you are watching news about this Uganda and whatever you see on TV or read on paper and you think you know everything already and you have experienced life already. live it and you have the right to say that i don't have enough experience in reality. if what you have to say is more about what youve read and what you've seen on TV then you live in a bubble. i have been given the chance to see personally how these farmers live their life on daily basis and now i understand why they act this way. i am currently working as an employee of a big company and i was raise by a middle class family and live a comfortable life compared to those farmers i had exposure before for more than a year. i am telling you this to paint a picture in your mind that i do not have too much ideals but i only have the understanding on how things work on both sides of the fence, the side in which you have to work your ass out even in heavy rain just to have something to eat for the day and the side in which you work on an air conditioned office and go to the mall after work and drink coffee which is worth a salary for some. do you see the picture? now who is naive or in-experience about the real life?

going back to the topic... we are lucky enough to have parents who were capable of sending us to college so that we can have degrees and work in an office and go to the mall after work and watch movies or drink expensive beverages. what if you are one of the son of those farmers and they were not able to send you to college but instead you depend your life on whatever you gained from farming the land. you don't know any life skill but to become a farmer. what would you do?

we have to understand they are doing this not because they want to drink coffee in Starbucks or watch 3d movies in SM but because they want to live. Mas mahal pa gani cguro gastos ng mga Cojuanco sa ilang mga binuhi nga iro kaysa gkaon sa mga mag.uuma sa hacienda. pag masakit ang mag.uuma mag lisod pa patambal pero ang mga kabayo sa mga cojuanco basin naa pa private nurse ug doctor! don't you see the fracking big difference on what both sides are fighting for? one side is fighting for luxury and the other is fighting just to survive. which do you think is more justifiable and right?

By the way we can not compare this situation with Uganda or any other country without first understanding the geopolitical structure of each country and area. Understanding the economic, political and cultural characteristic of Uganda should come first before you compare it to Hacienda Luisita case.

And also, what you see TV and what you read in paper is not entirely the truth. It is the interpretation of the truth provided for by whoever owns and run this form of media and in most cases there is a large disconnect between what is happening on the field and what is shown on TV or written on the papers. I'm not saying to stop watching news. :P

Ah, so it doesn't matter if the farmers are gonna fail in the end just as long as the Cojuangcos get ****ed over. Nice... That's exactly the kind of typical misguided idealism without practicality that's holding our country back.. just like the Housing Urban Development Act and Juvenile Justice Act.

1. i know a lot of people who manages their own office. like you have your own printing business and you are the manager, the owner and one of the employee.
2. there are lots of example you can find where factory workers own the factory and they have their own share. you can even find this kind of structure in USA. please check Workers cooperative in WIki and there are lots of examples about factory worker managing the factories they are working.
3. when i had exposure before if my memory serves me well some of them benefited from the program and i believe up until now they are still farming it. it's like you are saying that providing land to farmers is a waste of time. is that the case? do you really think providing farmers the land is a waste of effort?

If corona gets impeached and carpio takes over. goodbye hacienda luisita farmers. why can't some people see the real deal with this matter. the aquinos and cojuancos have been fighting for this for the longest time, and still some people discredit this as the main reason for pnoys ire on corona and GMA. ninoy aquino died for this, cory sucked up to every ruling president to protect HL, shamelessly using herself as the icon of edsa revolution, to protect the family's interest. until this little girl named gloria changed everything and she said enough is enough.
