Choose Seagate (PCX Php5,770) or Fujitsu drive. Then like what others have suggested, just buy an enclosure.

Check the enclosure before buying. try to see if you can modify the enclosure such that the HDD would "float" inside the enclosure. Don't attach the HDD to the enclosure using screws but instead, put little rubberized foams (see pic below) at the sides of the HDD. Those foams will serve as shock protection.

or get a solid state drive.... so you won't have to worry about dropping it....

hey thanks guys!!! ur suggestions really helped me with my purchase! i was able to get a seagate portable 100gb drive with enclosure na.. so far, ok man but slow ang pag upload og files (like 3 hours for maybe 10 gb of pix). ang pag download nuon dali ra kau.. less than 30 mins.. hehe

aditti, check if you have USB 2.0 on your pc, or if USB 2.0 drivers are installed on your pc, because from what i read in ur post, 3 hours for 10 gigs, is slow,

OT: i think ma-enable nimo ang USB 2.0 sa sp2 if your using XP.

wa ko ka try og enable sa USB 2.0 sa sp1 and lower na XP kay wa ko kita og driver.

You need to have at least Windows XP w/ SP1 in order to have USB 2.0 support (EHCI-compliant).
Just check if your motherboard needs additional chipset or USB 2.0 driver updates if you think your USB is not operating in Hi-Speed mode.

old computer doesnt have usb 2.0...eheheh the new one, hp, puro usb 2.0. i guess dili na nko tauran driver tong old computer coz my gollie to the max, unstable kau... gkan nani cya gpa revive kang ruelnov coz the seagate hdd drive crashed last year.. everytime mag start up ni cya, thrilling kau if mu sulod ba og windows or not..

bro unsaon nimo pagkahibaw nga USB 2.0 ang imong usb port....? nya kung active ba ang usb 2.0 sa imo pc....?
