All of us are racist at some degree... For the sake of naay ika "istorya", as what this site is all about; it was all sensationalized commentary/reporting which is sooo damn popular in our country kai mao mai mohalin sad gud =). Comments from journalists like Arnie (he looks like Barnie to some degree), who is pretty well known locally, which is deemed racist and is done in a sensationalized manner SELLS!!! It's all business as usual. It stirred the h3ll out of almost everyone who's into football and that is exactly what's needed for guys like Arnie and the rest of the band wagon and their respective tv stations to stay in the competition - cutthroat media programming. As for the alleged "sexist and demeaning behaviour" it could be trueo (we weren't there) but the right thing to do was to report the incident to the right officials within the football institution (whatever the h3ll the name of that is). But then again in a country where the motivation is almost always "political" the best way to get instant attention is go directly to media. So whether ventriloquist journalist Barnie makes a racist comment, relax, grab some beer, some chips, sit back enjoy the show...
Oh by the way, no complaint or lawsuit has been filed against the Azkals members which is forcing me to conclude that it was all for publicity...
clavio is just stating opinions.. if naigo sila or maybe nahadlok nga bisan mausab ang tinan-awan sa mga tao sa iya then good luck philippines.
by saying i read a lot, that does not mean i READ EVERYTHING. it jst so happens that im not a sports person so i dont follow news on basketball, football, etc coz it's not my thing and they dont interest me. but in the very few articles ive read and interviews that ive seen, labi nanang mga showbiz related, mao na akong nafeel nga murag pangartista kaayo ilang linihukan. and kana pa gyud mga nanggawas nga issues like kadtong rape, then kaning issue sa sexual harrassment. negative lng gyud kaayo ilang dating para nko. that's jst me ha and maybe maong dili kaayo ko muhatag ug weigh nila bcoz like i said sports is not my thing. unya wla mna nko sila gigeneral, ingon pa gani ko naay tarong pro murag dghan lgn gyud pud ug mga garaon. so probably kanang giingon nimo nga mga serious gyud sa craft, mao na ang mga tarong pro nasagulan lng gyud sila ug bad apple maong damay silang tanan sa bad publicity.
i hope lng kaning issue about racism dili matabunan tong issue sa harrassment kay dapat mas tgaan tog weight.
gibasol sa uban si arnold clavio sa kapildihan sa askals. Unsa pud kaha ila masulti if ever nidaog ang askals? paets
In the name of responsible journalism, it isn't the case.
Journalist’s Code of Ethics (Philippines)
1. I shall scrupulously report and interpret the news, taking care not to suppress essential facts or to distort the truth by omission or improper emphasis. I recognise the duty to air the other side and the duty to correct substantive errors promptly.
2. I shall not violate confidential information or material given me in the exercise of my calling.
3. I shall resort only to fair and honest methods in my effort to obtain news, photographs and/or documents, and shall properly identify myself as a representative of the press when obtaining any personal interview intended for publication.
4. I shall refrain from writing reports which will adversely affect a private reputation unless the public interest justifies it. At the same time, I shall fight vigorously for public access to information.
5. I shall not let personal motives or interests influence me in the performance of my duties; nor shall I accept or offer any present, gift or other consideration of a nature which may cast doubt on my professional integrity.
6. I shall not commit any act of plagiarism.
7. I shall not in any manner ridicule, cast aspersions on, or degrade any person by reason of ***, creed, religious belief, political conviction, cultural and ethnic origin.
8. I shall presume persons accused of crime of being innocent until proven otherwise. I shall exercise caution in publishing names of minors and women involved in criminal cases so that they may not unjustly lose their standing in society.
9. I shall not take unfair advantage of fellow journalists.
10. I shall accept only such tasks as are compatible with the integrity and dignity of my profession, invoking the ‘conscience clause’ when duties imposed on me conflict with the voice of my conscience.
11. I shall comport myself in public or while performing my duties as journalist in such manner as to maintain the dignity of my profession. When in doubt, decency should be my watch word.
i think this thread was intended to backfire clavio's racist comments which eventually boils down to something out of the context of the real issue which he even acknowledged as per his official statement below. a definite lesson to all media men and practitioners.
-Arnold Clavio
Although Clavio's statements seem like bigotry, I hope we stick to the heart of the issue which is sexual harassment. So ok lang mangharass bsta azkal?
the comment is not racist at all, it was an honest opinion of a tv host, it was unscripted. he was trying to say na dili pinoy culture ang kinalakihan sa majority sa azkals.
even the fhm cover of bella padilla is not racist, but others just made a big issue out of it.
