i think you can get anything you want sa canon as long as they have stocks here. ofcourse standard SRP. nikon, sony, canon we can always get the only advantage of getting them locally is the local warranty that they claim to give. and the support otherwise if everyone buys their gear outside the country then the local distributors go bankrupt and the support or service they have will no longer be here at least we can say they have bad service...but atleast that's better than no service.

Besides the obvious cost issue, the only time I won't recommend the 17-55 f/2.8 IS is when you think you'll upgrade to FF in the near future. Otherwise, it is THE walkaround lens for a crop body.
