English proficiency isn't the only measure of a person's competency. Certain jobs require a higher level of such and some jobs do not require it. That said, there's a question I often ask myself: Why is it the some people make fun of others trying to speak in English? There's nothing wrong with that at all. Same goes with someone trying to speak in our language, sometimes people make fun of them.

    Cheers!

I think that knowing english can prove to be a great advantage in a lot of situations. That being said, I also think people shouldn't let it overshadow their Cebuano or Tagalog or whatever. I'm a Filam kid, but ever since I've learned how to speak Cebuano, that's how I talk to people. That's only unless I'm reporting for class, am at work, speaking to another foreigner, or I don't know how to say it in Cebuano.

Speaking English is the fastest way, but it takes time. Just like going to another country or at call center, it makes you fluent in English since you're interacting with English customers almost all of the time. Naa ko'y mga migo or mga nailhan nga tawo nga native tongue nila ang English, fluent sila pero bati kaayo ilang mga sentence construction ug paragraph. Maski spelling maglisod. Ako advice since dili tanan naa sa gawas nag-English or naa sa Call Center, read English books, movies or even magazines and comics.
