Yup, that's Baghdad, Iraq. But, you know, between 767 and 912 AD. It housed the rarest of the rare books from 3 continent. It's also where the Persians likely kept the "greatest hits" from their history, including discoveries in science, medicine, astronomy and technology. The card catalog alone would be considered priceless. The library was like a rough draft of a university, it was where everyone went to learn. The House of Wisdom was destroyed when the Mongols invaded Baghdad in 1258 AD. For those who survived the initial destruction, the river ran black with ink for six months. It was considered one of the reasons to the decline of the Golden age of Islam, and thus the present-day Middle East was born.
