The government plans to acquire just trainer aircraft for the LIFT program, as part of the long planned transition to multi-role combat aircraft, Aquino announced in December 2011 his intent to go one step further and purchase second-hand F-16 fighters from the US.

Candidates: T/A-50 Golden Eagle and Alenia Aermacchi M-346

So the trainers will be acquired first before the F16.

My Grand father is a retired airmen
My Tito is a retired Lieutenant
My Cousin(girl) is also part of PAF
My Father recently retired from PAF
they asked me to be one of them but it was never my interest,
my cousins are planning take entrance exams to be part of PAF

PAF is not weak i think. its just that it lacks high-end aircrafts and facilities caused by what?
Of course, corrupt politicians and Accounting Officers together with its greedy allies..
the Budget of the Government for National Security is long deposited to their savings account...
They Buy low-end aircraft, and audits it in a high price(mao na way asenso)
then ask lng pd og donation from other countries(way pondo kunohay), dawat lng og segunda mano

PAF Man Power is excellent, interms of service i can say it good..
There's a lot of excellent PAF pilots that are now piloting other countries aircraft..
** kay nganu?, wa man silay aircraft na mapalupad.. kay kung dili guba, 2-3 rpd ang working(d pjud 100%)
hawa nlng sila sa airforce, adto og Saudi or other countries kung asa magamit nila ilang skills..

but there are still pilots who are so patriotic and stayed here (hooray! to them)
so far, as what i have noticed PAF are doing their jobs well..
its just that Facilities and Equipment for the National Security's Defense is Poor which resulting bad image for the military..

So for me, We dont say "Philippine Airforce - One of the weakest in the world" because its pertaining to the people behind it, bec. i havent seen them fight in a real war yet, cant tell if their bad at what they do..
hence it should be "PAF Aircrafts- Puros Gubaon"

I think this issue has already been addressed by purchasing Upgraded MD-520 engines...
All 20 engines have been delivered last year..

"upgraded engine" meaning newly overhauled right sir? its second hand but with the agreement that we get to have free training for those kind of works (overhauling and upgrading). mura mao nah ako nabalitaan

not to mention the peacock/jacinto class ships. blame the senators and the congressmen in the 90's when we were offered f-16 that was supposed to be sold to pakistan they turned down because "second hand" kuno.
