Thread: OS Windows 8

There is still start menu though but what I mean is that in Start Menu, only the Search, Share, Devices, and Settings Sub-menu are present. So wala na tong Start-Programs. And also, the new touch interface is the big addition to this OS but I am not surprised because it seems that they are following the interfaces of Android/iOS styles but its not anymore like the desktop icons though. Shall I say Interface Icons are now arranged in rectangles. I think this is now what the Metro Style App is all about.

you get that if you just hover the mouse over the Windows logo...

but if you click on the Start button it actually brings you to the Metro view which is the new "Start-Programs" where you add tiles to whatever programs you want. and when you install a program the tiles usually get setup automaticallly.

what's nice is you can move the tiles around so those that you use the most are where you want them to be...

time for a test drive... the Windows 8 Consumer Preview is out!!!!

so for those willing to kick the tires and give your opinion

there are two ways to download... a 5MB setup file that might do a online wizard based setup [haven't tested this]

    or download the iso image...

NOTE: the Developer Preview made available a few months ago will expire NEXT WEEK ON MARCH 8, 2012

hey guys, anyone here tried installing Windows 8 Consumer Preview with VMware?

    what VMware did you use?

most of the tutorials i see are using VMware Fusion 4.0. i believe that version is for MAC only..
i really want to try this thru dual booting my PC..

im trying to achieve like this:
    host OS: windows 7 64bit
virtual OS: windows 8 Consumer Preview 64bit

    Try VirtualBox bro.
Last time, Im having issues making installation of Windows 8 Dev Edition work. Error messages suggests that I need to enable the virtualization feature of my machine or unsa pana dha and that's on 64 bit version on my 64bit machine. I was able to successfully installed the 32bit version on my 32bit machine though. Medyo buggy pajd siya sa virtual, mo hang lag kalit labi na if mataudtauran nimo ug idle imo pc.

We were now able to install the consumer edition and its seems much better and more features are now available compared to dev edition.

lage bro. according sa akong mga nabasa karon kay virtual box or vmware server for windows 7 na host ang pwede magamit for virtualization..

how about dual booting without virtualization bro, do you know how to?
what i mean is windows 7 and 8 side to side..
im still researching about that now. maybe you have ideas..
they say you can install windows 8 on a separate virtual partition. have yo tried this?
