this is what Alarcio said on the news:

Alarcio explained that the schedule of road closures during the summit is not yet known, but he hopes to come up with advisories so motorists would be forewarned.

    50 meetings at ASEAN set

CEBU CITY — About 50 meetings are still to be conducted as the 12th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit kicks off this week in Cebu. The figure may still increase depending on any issues that might arise that needs further discussion among member nations and dialogue partners.

National Organizing Committee (NOC) secretary general Ambassador Marciano Paynor Jr. told a recent press conference that more meetings might be arranged as it is possible for participating delegations to request for additional meetings when issues not part of the agenda needs to be threshed out.

There are still 52 meetings that need to be finished, it was learned.

A total of over 90 meetings are listed for the summit duration last December 10-15, 2006, the original summit date. With the conclusion of the economic ministers meetings before the announcement of the postponement of the Leaders Meetings last month, a little over 50 meetings remain to be concluded.

Paynor however, said more than half of the total delegation last year are still coming to participate in the rescheduled summit.
The summit is set to start on January 10 with the ministerial meetings among foreign ministers, senior officials and economic ministers. Though the economic ministers have concluded their meetings last year, there are still some unresolved issues that needs more discussion, according to Paynor.

The Leaders Meetings will begin on January 12 until the 15th with Shangri-la Hotel as the main venue. The Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) will also host a significant number of meetings, Paynor said.

Cebu Organizing Committee (COC) co-chair Gov. Gwen Garcia said the CICC will look even more beautiful now compared to last time and that it is 100 percent ready for the summit with the leaks already fixed. The country rooms will also now be ready for use for the scheduled bilateral meetings, Garcia added.

Delegates and foreign media will start arriving today, Monday.

The surrounding areas of the Most Important Person (MIP) Lounge at the Mactan International Airport where foreign media and the foreign delegation, including the heads of states, will proceed upon arrival have been spruced up with fine grass, flowers and more plants. President Arroyo in her visit to Cebu last month ordered Cebu organizers to beautify more the areas surrounding the summit venues and the ceremonial routes.

The supplier of the defective lamp posts lining the ceremonial routes that cost millions of pesos has been given until yesterday to replace the lamp posts that have conked out, Paynor said.

Accreditation cards for both international and Philippine media as well as for the foreign delegation will be replaced with new ones but they have to surrender their old IDs, it was is learned.

It's all set. Even GMA's visit to CICC has given her satisfaction since all is set and prepared for the summit. Various meetings will be held which will definitely translate for the benefit of our economy and our people.
A ceremonial route was done today, with all the perks and all to prove that we are all set for the ASEAN Summit.

I'd like to extend my support to all Cebuanos and to all the people working for the success of the Summit.
