    Not true? Maybe.

Have you heard nga mag import nata ug mga isda karon kay minus na ang kuha sa atong mga dagat due to overfishing? It's not the freshwater + saltwater mixture that you should worry about, it's overfishing. With 7 billion people on the planet and is expected to be 9 billion on 2030, if karon pa lang gani mag lisud na ug supply ang dagat nato how much pa kaha inig 9 billion na ta?

Sa mindanao man na nga issue sir about sa mga insufficiency sa ato mga isda nga tamban sa surigao na ginahimong sardinas sa atong mga canned sardines.. and its a big issue sa ato kay ang mindanao man gud ang food basket sa pilipinas.. The rest of the archipelago nato wala man naka feel ug insufficiency sa mga isda..

do u still remember the word "MIGRATION"... fishes are also doing like that para mangita pud ug ila makaon sa dagat..
and with that migration they are also developing ADAPTATION to their environment para mabuhi sila..

and I also agree that overfishing and other illegal fishing activities contributes to the short supply of our edible fishes..
but with the popularity of commercial breeding of freshwater fishes dili na ta basta mahutdan ug supply sa isda ui.
UNLESS kung naay mga natural calamities such as typhoons, aw dira jud magnihit ang ato isda na makaon kay mangamatay man.

importation of fishes from china are sometimes an illegal activity done by some vendors kay barato man compared sa ato local fisheries.. but the government did not advise our vendors to do that because it will hurt small business owners intawon kay unfair competition na.

on the other side, I really believe that fishes will not be lost or extinct in the sea kay daghan ang ato tubig kaysa yuta.. The whole world won't have a scarcity of seafoods in our oceans and other bodies of water.. maybe some diificulties to get it lang siguro kay dili pud bya sayon ang mangisda bisan naa pa kay hi tech na bangka or fishing boats.

    Fishery resources seriously depleting
By Gregg M. Rubio (The Freeman) Updated February 18, 2012 12:00 AM Comments (0)

CEBU, Philippines - The country’s fishing industry is in “critical” condition, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Director Asis Perez reported in the 4th Governors’ Meeting on the Visayan Sea Protection and Coastal Law Enforcement Program in Iloilo City yesterday.

“We have signs that indicate na kailangan na nating ayusin ang fisheries natin,” Perez said.

Perez reported that last year, the Philippines imported around 800,000 metric tons of “galonggong”, “tulingan” and mackerel fishes.

“The bureau and the government is working double time so that we’ll be able to address it passionately and fast similar to what the governors are doing,” he said.

Perez commended the four provinces surrounding the Visayan Sea in taking initiatives in rescuing the worsening situation particularly the Visayas Marine Triangle.

Adaptation doesn't happen overnight or several months or years. It takes thousands of years before one specie can successfully adapt to it's new environment. Commercial fishing may be booming but that doesn't guarantee abundant supply in the future.

At the current rate that humans are destroying the oceans, apil man sad ug ka guba ang corals which most marine life depends. Add to that the slow mixture of fresh waters into the ocean which causes coral bleaching.

sir, adaptation of fishes from different bodies of water are already happening right now.. wala ka ba nakapansin sa ato mga tilapia today? there are already varieties of tilapia that can survive even in saltwater and it can be found in the philippines particularly in laguna..

not only in philippines na naay mga isda na naga adapt na sa freshwater.. pati pud sa thailand, papua new guinea, cambodia, ug brazil..

regarding sa fishkill because of overpopulation of fishpens or fishcages, dili man na pirmi nagahitabo.. and only isolated lang na nga cases.. want to visit mindanao? see it for yourself there kay daghan mga fishpens ang davao, zamboanga, surigao, lanao ug maguindanao aside adtong issue sa surigao na nagkulang na daw ang isda na tamban sa ila na ginahimo ug sardinas sa lata..

and regarding about coral bleaching wala na ta mabuhat ana because its already happening..and that makes some varieties of fish to adapt to other bodies of water.. ang issue man kaya diri na ang fish will be extinct worldwide in 2050? which I strongly believe na dili mahitabo regardless kung freshwater ba na or saltwater type..
