the external hard drive na USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with a motherboard with USB 2.0 ports
di lang ma maximize ang speed sa usb 3.0 interface sa hard drive since you are using the older 2.0 port sa motherboard

same as using an external hard drive na USB 2.0, the motherboard with USB 3.0 ports is backwards compatible with the older hard drive
di lang ma maximize ang speed sa usb 3.0 interface sa motherboard since you are using an older hard drive na USB 2.0

    in short,
all USB 3.0 devices like external hard drives are backwards compatible with older USB 2.0 interface of the motherboard
all motherboards with USB 3.0 ports are backwards compatible with older USB 2.0 devices like your old external hard drive

usb 3.0 has faster transfer speeds.. so if imo mobo is usb 3.0 and naa ka external na usb then transfers will be faster. backward compatible ra pud na ang usb 3.0 to usb 2.0 but transfers will be dependent on the slowest port, which in this case usb 2.0. pwede ka paslak usb 2 in a usb3 port and vice versa

    USB2 has maximum bandwidth of 60MB/s, USB3 has 625MB/s
