I think it is not that easy to fake GPUs. Basin sa box ra saying GTX 285 pero 9500 GT diay.

Based on my knowledge, as i've spent quite sometime in the semiconductor industry, it is very easy to fake a product... including the GPU... the whole video card for this matter. Kay naa man gud schematic diagram ang mga data sheets sa semiconductor product... mao ra ni ilahang sundon... or kun dli sila maka kuha ug genuine schematic diagram, ilaha ra i-reverse engineering ang branded boards then produce sila ug VC product nila... simple ra gyud kaayo. Dri sa office, ang mga USB drives namo na mga freebies para sa Customers kay manually assembled ra sa in-house. This also includes all the sample working boards for the Customers. Dali ra gyud kaayo buhaton... pero, dili ko kamao ha... hehehe... ang mga intsik ra na naa sa manufacturing department namo ang mo himo. Maka manual solder gani sila ug BGA package sa board... hanep kaayo... na man mi product na PMU (power management unit) in BGA package (6x6 mm)... 81 balls... then i-manual ra nila ug solder sa sample board kits for the Customer...

Regarding sa manufacturing line for mass production, ang gamit sa mga copy cats kay the same ra sa mga big companies. High tech kaayo sila mo copy... completo ug assembly and test equipment... but again, trademark nila ang "wrong spelling" sa print sa packaging/boxes... hehehe... and uban kay sakto pud ang spelling...

naa nindot ug naa pud bati in terms of actual field performance, product workmanship, quality and reliability... depende sa target market segment nila... their price range can also be used as a barometer... with warranty man ni sila dri but once naa ni sa atoa, mo saka na ang price... naa gihapon warranty ang mga shops dha for sure...

AFAIK .... these videocard "brands" are only for chinese market consumption...

nagkalata alng ang ilang mga GPU cores didto sa china.. ang uban aning mga processing cores mga excess ni sa factories.
this happens all the time sa MAnufacturing industries.... i once work as an IT guy for a Electronics company sa MEPZ which also makes SUN server machines for SUN and assembles powercolor GPU for powercolor sa thailand nga branch as a sub contract.

all they need is a:

1. OEM manufacturer: [daghan mga electronics companies didto like flextronics, celestica, ASUS, etc. that have the SMT assembly lines and balh balh]
3. existing yet unapproved PCB designs for global market...so Chinese consumption lang [daghan kaayu ni sila ug database]
4. electronic components [such as capacitors and etc... basta naay excess ani didto]
5. a cheap workforce
6. a Client that contracts the OEMs to do that.... pwede gani tingali si Andy magpahimu ug GPU sa unknown Chinese OEM.. and sells it as "CAC Andy's HD6870" dire sa cebu [as an example lang na huh... no offense master Andz]

ang problema lang ani nga mga unknown GPUs is ang quality control.... Ang QA sa manufacturing is the most hasol gyud. kay ang QA department mao ang pirme balikason sa Client nga nagpahimu ug electronics. especially japanese clients... hasta cover box nga naay gamay nga Gisi... uli na sa factory that includes the finished product inside.. O_O

hehehehe... ang manufacturing sites sa mga big branded companies kay naa dri sa main land and taiwan... check your hardwares... most of it or almost all of it are made in China... naa dri ang mga manufacturing floors man... maong lagot si Obama kay wla na work ang mga tao nila sa estets... hehehe...

pero daghan gyud kaayo ang mag himo ug peke dri sa main land... tua daghan sa south...sa Guangzhou province...

sa akoang gi sulti gahapon na kuha-an nko ug pics ang packaging sa fake na Kingston memory nako... wala naman ang box. kani lang screen capture for the 2 mem slots (DDR 400)... again, my set up here is a relic... hehehe... Modt Intel Pentium M770... CPU-Z showed that the two mem modules are Kingston... in reality, its a Kingston fake... hehehe... pero, nag rumble ang info sa "Week/Year"... don't know if unsa ang sa original. Nabali ang info... nahimo'g "Year/Week" as shown on the image...

By the way, 2nd mem module set ni nako kay ang 1st, Crucial man ang brand ato then akoang gi ili-san aning Kingston modules last May '11. Palit nko during that time kay around 500 php per 1GB bnew fake Kingston mem module... again, it hold its ground until now... the rig is working 24/7...
