    To elord:

150 is kuridas price if you prefer just to dispose right away your dead boards or dead hard disks.

But if you allow me to do a quick test on each item in my shop, I would be willing to pay as much as 300 if I like the condition of the item.

TO ALL WHO ASKED IF YOUR HARD DRIVE CAN BE REPAIRED OR NOT:

I can only say YES or NO after I have diagnosed the drive (desktop or laptop HD).

My success rate is 7 out of 10 in general. I mean, 7 of 10 hard drives submitted for repair were fixed. And none of those drives repaired were returned for repeat service so far.

If your hard drive is really hopeless after my diagnosis, then at least we have tried. Anyway, I don't charge anything if I haven't fixed it.

FOR MOTHERBOARD REPAIR, MY SUCCESS RATE IS 9 OUT OF 10.

SOME HELPFUL TIPS ON HARD DRIVES:
    1. Drives that cannot be partitioned or formatted have physical bad sectors (not logical) that need to be remapped/wiped out so that these become hidden from access by any Operating System.

    2. Wiping out bad sectors and hiding them from OS access certainly reduces your drive's capacity somewhat, but that is negligible compared to the total size of the drive. For example, if we wipe out 10 physical bad sectors that is only 10x512bytes or 5.12MB which is very small compared to 4.3GIG, etc.

    3. It is normal for hard drives to develop physical bad sectors through continued use due to wear & tear on the platter surface, deterioration of the sensitivity/accuracy of magnetic heads, etc. Fortunately, there is a pool of spare sectors kept by the drive controller to keep these bad sectors hidden from our view. But when the number of physical bad sectors exceeds the spare sectors in the drive's pool, then these bad sectors start to show up in Scandisk and begin to affect the drive's normal functioning.

    4. Hard Drives can serve us long when handled properly, such as avoiding SHOCK while it is in use, installing in proper position and orientation, running Scandisk periodically, shutting PC from the Windows SHUTDOWN MENU to allow the drive heads to park to a safe location, etc.

No, that's very fine with me. And thanks a lot for posting it. I was actually preparing a sketch of my own and was about to have it scanned for posting here.

    Thanks again.
