as i posted on https://www.istorya.net/forums/scienc...-local-tv.html about Science Education in the country,
it seems that we have just shot ourselves on the foot with instilling early curiosity and interest about science with the young, knowing the degree of superstition that we still embroil ourselves in.i think we can agree that there is a problem with the educational system and how science is taught (or not taught) in schools.
aside from pointing out the obvious political and socio-economic aspects of the problem (something that i have done a lot of times in the boards), a problem that i see is on how reality is experienced and how it reinforces a child's interest in a particular subject matter.
e.g. a space shuttle is more "unreal" that say, cock fighting in the kanto, so it is not hard to imagine why a number of kids might gravitate to this and other things that are within their arms' reach.
as long as science (or even history for that matter) remains to them as meaningless facts, dates and events that they cannot relate to the experiences that they have with their daily lives, it would be near impossible to assume to learn anything from it, much less use it.
meanwhile, in more science-oriented countries, teens launch toys over the clouds, while we are languishing in our lack of re-imagination of our future.

Science can be enjoyable, it's totally up to the teacher's skills. What BS!!!!
I think it's time to leave this country. i don't want my future daughter to be part of this BS.
lol ani wui, science pa jud....gamit man siguro tanan subject bisan ang Filipino ug Sibika at Kultura...pero kung naa lay igive up nga subjects kanang duha jud para nako..
i don't think we even need to give up any subjects.
what we need is more time spent per subject rather than merging it or striking if off from the curriculum. nowadays, we hear 3-shift classes per day (early morning, afternoon, and night classes) allocating more or less 30 minutes per subject per day due to shortage of educational facilities and equipment.
the time allocation alone is wrong. striking off subjects is simply an outrage.

ang emphasis ani nga system is to allocate adequate time to tackle sa every subject matter..tungod sa kadghan karon og loads sa mga bata....taphaw ra ang pag discuss sa ubang subjects....mao ng unahon ang reading og writing kai mao man jud nai basic..awahi na ang science...
