THE sci-fi movie Minority Report has moved a step closer to reality with the invention of a window that doubles as a computer monitor.Electronics giant Samsung has created the Transparent Smart Window — a plain-looking window that works as a monitor too.The amazing device has been unveiled at the CES 2012 show in Las Vegas, US, and is ready to go into production in a few weeks.Spectators were awe-struck as the seemingly standard window popped up weather apps, Twitter and email icons that could be moved around with the swipe of a finger — similar to touchscreen technology used by Tom Cruise in the hit flick.When you want to block the light out it can even be used as an electronic blind.The transparent touchscreen LCD can fit a window any size up to 46ins and deliver a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels allowing full interaction at the same time.Samsung explained it can be used to watch TV, as a picture frame or just as a bog standard window.Outsiders looking in won't be able to see what you're doing either because it operates as a one-way mirror from the outside.Developers have even said it could be used in car windscreens so readout displays such as the speed and petrol gage can be displayed on the screen in front of the driver and swiped away when not in use.No price has been revealed but Samsung say they would like to release the Smartscreen by the end of the year.
