when people ask questions like these, i often wonder what's happening with the efforts to promote local history and culture, and how history is taught in schools...

OT :
The only good thing I see is that there are still people who are interested about LOCAL HISTORY .
When I was taking up my HISTORY 15 and 17 in USC , I have never heard of names as such except for Lapu Lapu . They should include also the local history in the syllabus since they have started the Filipiniana itself . I dont know about other schools though .

most of our streets now are named after prominent politicians of the past... like Vicenter Rama for V.Rama, Osmena boulevard for you know na, - the Osmenas, Ouano St, for the Ouano scions and even Duterte St, for the past Mayor Duterte.
Mostly other than that.. wala na kau ko kadungog nga mga dalan nga named after some historical cebuano figures (other than Leon Kilat St. and etc). Mostly it has been superceded naman gud with prominent political figures from the past...
TS if u r interested...i can share with u clippings of historical cebuanos..just pm me....
