Well, if u understand how good the light transmission of the Nikkor 24-70 F2.8 is, am sure u won't be needing the EXIF to explain why the output was like that..

What that comparison shows is that at the same settings, the Tank absorbs/transmits more light into the sensor thus the somehow less contrasty output as compared to the 50mm. The advantage of this is that u can have a higher shutter speed or lower ISO to achieve the same or even better output than the 50mm. And that faster shutter or lower iso is very helpful in getting a crisp/sharp image considering that the Tank is a heavy lens and no VR.

No wonder pic 1 is brighter. Your exif says exposure time was 1.3s while for pic 2 it was only 0.8s.

You are comparing Apples with Oranges.

Exif pic 1
Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 13/10 second ===> 1.3 second
Lens F-Number / F-Stop = 4/1 ===> ƒ/4
Exposure Program = aperture priority (3)
ISO Speed Ratings = 500

Exif pic 2
Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 4/5 second ===> 1/1.25 second ===> 0.8 second
Lens F-Number / F-Stop = 4/1 ===> ƒ/4
Exposure Program = manual control (1)
ISO Speed Ratings = 500
