I am not saying the government should not fund education because they have a bad record of implementing projects....I'm saying the government should never fund any social program, education/health/housing/insurance...etc... This is called, socialism. And if left unchecked, we will be heading towards communism.
Why are social programs not good? Well, their intentions, sincere and pure, are all good, noble, and at first glance a desirable goal to be achieved... But that is only one side of the coin, the other side is the implementation. Implemented effectively or not, it raises a moral issue that seems to slip by from the minds of the people. Is it morally justifiable for one person to use the money of another person through force, to spend for another person?
I'm not only raising the moral concern but also the actual results versus the desired results. It seems the government doesn't have a passing grade in all of its programs. You know why? Because the government is composed of people, and people will always take their self-interest as priority over others.
The economic consequence of these social programs are clearly evident in our national debt. It has never shrunked, only the amount of increase has been slowed down a bit... But it continues to grow... You can feel the effects of it directly, rising prices, decreased purchasing power, increased costs of living, etc... I'm not greedy at all, but i don't also mind greediness as long as it doesn't stepped on the inalienable rights of other people.
