lets just help our country in our own little ways tweeting with that hashtag #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines or any other social sites. after all, who would thought that slogan was used in 1951 when most of us weren't born or still fetus during those years.

dili nalang ta sigeg panaway gud.after all ato man gihapon ning nasud. sama sa giingon gud ni dalai lama, "if you can't help them, then at least don't hurt them." im sure the DOT is working hard for tourist to come in.specially with the tragidies we had.

let us help our country nalang.

i'm afraid we have little budget for that. that is why the DOT is really relying on social media or the so-called "Crowd Sourcing" through social medias like twitter and facebook among others. if you can see on twitter the hash tag #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines or #1forFun is trending.

MANILA, Philippines - Apparently, the Philippines is not the only country that is "more fun."

A 1951 ad from the Swiss National Tourism Office, which is currently sold in vintage ad websites, is currently making the rounds on the Internet, particularly social networking sites.

It read: "It's more fun in Switzerland!"

"Soak up the sun -- whether you're drifting on palm-fringed lakes or exploring sunny Alpine trails. In four hours, Switzerland's fast electric trains will whisk you almost anywhere in this gay and friendly country.

"Enjoy Switzerland's magnificent spring ski season -- perfect snow conditions in the higher areas of the Alps until June!"

Earlier today, the Department of Tourism (DOT) launched the country's newest tourism campaign, "It's more fun in the Philippines."

"We need a line that is easily understood. Competitive. 'More fun in the Philippines' is true. Keri natin ito (Kaya natin ito)," Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr. said during a press conference.

The DOT decided to hold off on branding and marketing strategies last year after the "Pilipinas Kay Ganda" campaign was scrapped due to a major industry outcry. The "Pilipinas Kay Ganda" logo was said to be lifted from Poland's own tourism campaign, "Polska."

Before "Pilipinas Kay Ganda," the country had the more popular "WoW Philippines" catch phrase as its tourism slogan.

    Coincidence?

Not surprisingly, netizens were quick to react on the issue.

On Twitter and Facebook, some accused DOT and advertising agency BBDO Guerrero of copying Switzerland's old tourism slogan. Others defended the campaign, saying: "It's definitely more fun in the Philippines."

A handful of them, meanwhile, posed this question: "Where is more fun? In Switzerland or in the Philippines?"

Jimenez, however, was quoted in an online article as saying that the similarity is just a "coincidence."

He added that Filipinos should just support the new campaign instead of looking for loopholes.

From the tourism secretary Mon Jimenez:

The line isn't a manufactured slogan. It's simply the truth about our country. Don't be swayed by people who are trying to punch holes in it

DOT execs huddle as anxious netizens ask about originality of new Philippine tourism slogan

Top DOT officers were in an unscheduled meeting on Friday afternoon after cyberspace went abuzz with speculation over the originality of the Philippines' brand new, hours-old, tourism slogan.

Just hours after a successful launch on Friday, Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Jr., was back where his new tourism campaign all began - on Twitter, and this time to defend the country's new tourism brand from speculations that it may be unoriginal or worse, may have been copied.

Filipino netizens, still excited and discussing the merits of the Department of Tourism's "It's More Fun In the Philippines" slogan, on Friday afternoon were suddenly distracted by the posting of a purported picture of a 1951 Swiss tourism ad, the copy of which reads: "It's More Fun In Switzerland".

While the authenticity or actual existence of the "poster" has yet to be independently validated, the concern and anxiety among Filipino bloggers and Twitter users was obvious and palpable. An earlier proposed Philippine tourism brand, "Pilipinas Kay Ganda", was pilloried because, among other reasons, its typography and slogan was exposed to be uncannily similar to a tourism logo used by Poland.

Jimenez on Friday afternoon was portraying the whole matter regarding the purported Swiss ad as a coincidence. He then went on Twitter, using his "MonJQuotes" account, to say: "No one can own the expression "it's more fun" but it's very true for the #Philippines so it becomes ours."

Still, DOT officers were suddenly in an unscheduled meeting by 4 p.m. for a "briefing". Officers of BBDO Guerrero, which developed the slogan for the DOT, could not be reached for comment as of this posting.
