Can an Aluminum Foil reflect UVb rays? Pls help.

Hi guys! I'm planning to make a DIY aquarium light hood with light reflector for my UVa/b CFL bulb.

I'm planning to use an Aluminum Foil for my light reflector.

I've read that Mirrors can reflect UVa rays from the sun. Because a mirror is made-up of a Glass and Aluminum base. Since UVb rays can't go through glass, UVb rays can't be reflected by mirrors.

But if there's no glass, Can Aluminum reflect UVb rays?

Can the Aluminum Foil reflect UVb rays?

It's the only one I can find on the net. I would say yes, Aluminum can reflect UV. But take note, Aluminum is a really poor reflector by imaging standards just around 92% in the visible range. But for regular applications, above 90% is more than enough. UV down to 100nanometers should be fine for aluminum. Below that, reflectance decreases.

my reflect xa TS but minimal ra.. use a high quality mirror instead it'll do the trick..

btw, likayi intawun na maigo ang turtle nimo pirmi.....


mao pud ni akong plano buhaton sa akong aquarium.. mag diy external canister pd ko with uvc para patay mga parasites.

This is more of a "Pet Owners" matter rather than a science topic.

Normally I would have moved it to the pet section. But since I like turtles (owned 3 in my elementary and high school days), and since the question does address a technical issue, then it stays.
