Hello everyone. I will be taking photos in low light this Sunday (UP -> Escario -> Capitol -> Fuente) and while I can set my Canonet 28 to f2.8 and force it to shoot at 1/30 (disabling its meter), I don't think ASA 400 would be enough. Since I'm a noob, I don't know where to find an ASA 800 or 1600 film. If you guys know, would appreciate a private message. Thanks kaayo.

    Thanks!

Your Minolta CLE is hard to come by these days, but a superb rangefinder nevertheless. Plus what's even more great about it is that the lenses are interchangeable -- and I mean Leica M interchangeable!

Sure, that would be a great opportunity for us film users to get together! Let's organize a shoot/walk. We're a small but steady group anyway.

Yeah, I have been looking for ASA 800 film and above too. Looked everywhere, but to no avail.

I hope you find some stock soon.

According to one of the post-ers in this site, Canon Canonet 28 - Lomography, said that color film can handle an underexposure of one stop.

I was looking for ways to use the Canonet 28 in low light and his or her explanation below is the reason why I'm looking for an ASA 800/1600 film:

"To use it when there's not enough light, you can use faster film or use a flash. You can also force it to let you shoot by setting it to a faster ASA. Most color negative films can handle being underexposed by one stop. If you're already maxed out your film speed, you can consider selecting the largest aperture manually. This will set the aperture to whatever you pick. It will set the shutter speed to 1/30". And, it will disable the lock. You will at least be able to get a shot even if it's underexposed a bit. You can also use this trick to shoot with high-speed film. If you set the aperture to 2.8, you can use whatever speed film you want because the camera won't be metering anymore. You can use 800 or even 1600 speed film. In low light, the camera would pick the largest aperture and slowest shutter speed anyway."

I guess I just have to find ways on Sunday to ensure I get usable shots. Don't shoot moonlight subjects It's impossible using the Canonet 28 anyway maski naa pa tripod. Can't go slower than 1/30, he he.

If I can't find locally, it's evil e-bay for me. If ever we can do a batch order. I'll have it shipped to Johnny Air Cargo para mas paspas. Maybe other film photogs are looking for fast films too.

@kaotep: No particular hurry. I rarely photowalk at night but I do think I'd need 800/1600 film on reserved when I do shoot indoors at night. Another route I could take is to get a rangefinder with a 1.7 aperture. There seems to be a lot of Yashica Electro 35 GSN in ebay. But I shouldn't be impulsive. Research sa others RFs that is within my budget.

I researched about RFs and while a lot like Yashica, some say that the Canonet Q-III 17 is preferred by those who want manual control. The Minoltas are also up there especially the CLE (but a bit expensive) but the Yashica Lynx with the 1.4 aperture lens looks appealing and still affordable. I'll research some more. Would probably take me 2-3 months of careful Googling to finally choose my next fast RF with hopefully spot metering and higher ASA support (1600 to 3200 would be welcome but 800 would probably be fine) or am I defeating the purpose of having a RF which is to just compose and point and shoot Maybe what I'm looking for instead is a film SLR. Just found out yesterday that the Canon AE-1 can be used in manual mode. Pataka ra ko sulti na shutter priority only. What a noob. I feel like I'm beginning again. Sa sunod ani twin reflex?
