Bill Clinton? Former ombudsman Gutierrez (she resigned during her impeachment)? Nobody in the Philippines has ever been ousted with an impeachment, including Erap.

Impeachment is the process. One can be impeached in the Lower House and the proceedings' outcome will be defeated in Senate.

I think you mean Impeachment FOLLOWED BY conviction in the Senate.

Is the present Congress now becoming a rubber stamp of Malacañang?

Navotas Rep. Tobias Tiangco has resigned from the majority and turned independent to protest the majority's alleged railroading of Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona’s impeachment.

Tiangco also gave up his chairmanship of the Metro Manila Development Committee, which has been turned over to San Juan Rep. JV Ejercito.

In a privilege speech, Tiangco decried the alleged nonobservance of due process in the impeachment case, pointing out the complaint was approved even without the benefit of congressmen reading and studying it.

He said the majority did not allow them to ask questions when the complaint was presented to the members at a caucus.

Tiangco said he has no quarrel with President Benigno Aquino and does not intend to protect former President Gloria Arroyo, who is seen as the patron of Corona.

However, he said he has to stand up for the high court.

Tiangco accused Congress of becoming a rubber stamp of Malacañan.

I don't know about you guys, pero dili nindot ang feeling nako aning turn of events. The fact that the impeachment process was unusually, if not freakishly, fast is something that does not sit well with me. Siguro kung nag-last siya for a month, or even a couple of weeks, masabtan nako. But for the impeachment process to take place in one day is just surreal.

And based from what I've read from Rep. Tiangco and Sen. Joker Arroyo, mura gyud naay problem dinhi that a lot of us aren't getting yet. The fact that there was supposedly little time invested in reading and studying the complaint is not a good sign.

You can rant all you want about how you despise former President Gloria Arroyo and CJ Renato Corona, but I feel that there's another aspect beneath all of these that might hit us hard in the future.
