Don't get me wrong, I haven't heard Utada Hikaru's version but if Dice & K9 did sample or duplicate the vocal arrangement/composition (without credit for Utada), then we're both on the same side. But if the similarities just end up on two phrases with conventional meanings-- no tone or other duplicating or whatever, I think it's no big deal. So please correct me. Or better yet name that specific song by Utada so I could take a listen.

Meh, I don't even know that person. But like I said, in their cd they tweaked lots of lines from other artists. I could point out what they tweaked heh

tingkagol has a point. to put it simply g Tweak ang lyrics sa Frist love, now gnao mu ingon man ko sna gi kopya lang ang lyrics? well, my japanese friend says the itsumo chrous is badly translated, and when he looked up the original in First love, he can see that the phrase "You are always gonna be the one" was literally translated. and then the rest are purely the same naa ra gamay gi usab.

Bisag sa Pinas ... they're required to pay for publishing rights.. pero if they don't, and they can get away with it, I hope they don't get caught.

Lots of filipino artists cover or "revive" old songs all the time. Is that different from sampling? Are they paying for publishing rights? Or do they just credit the writer by writing somewhere in there album: This song is written by blahblahblah. If they do pay for publishing rights, that's way too unbelievable.

I really believe they didn't pay for publishing, but they just gave credit to the original artists.

I hope they don't get caught.

Who's going to sue an artist who covers songs heard only in this country? If that artist's popularity has somewhat become that of Britney Spears', maybe recording companies in US will have second thoughts.

The thing is, the Philippine music industry remains hidden from the rest of the world. Except maybe for Jolina. hehe
